Re: jetstar 'business' class sale! Lots of dates... combine with UL/QR/AY for cheap E

I guess the question is Jetstar doing something deceptive and whether they are breaking some law?

Re: jetstar 'business' class sale! Lots of dates... combine with UL/QR/AY for cheap E

Outside of the sale Dates MEL-SIN equals approx. $1700 Total Including bundle, return in J where the Bundle cost is $200.00 each way. Within the validity dates the price comes to approx. $1700.00 Total including the bundle, return in J where the bundle costs $450.00 each way.

Make your own minds up.

Perhaps it would be a bit more customer friendly if at the sale fare price they let you add an "economy" bundle. Certainly not being able to obtain any FF benefit is a massive dis-incentive to buy the "business sale" fare in any form. Not that the business MAX fare is a great bargain.

Another reason why looking for MH Z class fares in SE Asia is a far better option in the QF SC hunt.

Agree with what you say... but with the original title of this thread - cheap JQ to catch UL out of singapore, the only real time you're going to lose FF benefits is a few miles (given the new simpler and fairer for economy), and if you have no status, a lounge in Melbourne.

JQ business gets you priority check in, and departing from SIN - the whole airport is pretty much the equivalent of a Qantas club. The only thing you don't get is a party pie and a glass of wine. Not so much of a biggie IMO.

I think I disagree with all of that.

I think I disagree with all of that.

True that ... the catering in the SIN Qantas lounge is generally somewhat better than 'party pies'.

quite.

in all seriousness I reckon it's a pretty close call between the Melbourne, sydney or Perth qantas clubs and the general terminal space in Singapore ('free' food and drink aside).

Re: jetstar 'business' class sale! Lots of dates... combine with UL/QR/AY for cheap E

I don't know what the official explanation is, but the explanation Serfty has provided does make sense. It seems the name of Bundle is a misnomer as it is more of a top up payment to the next fare level hence the dynamic nature of its pricing.

I misunderstood you then.

Qantas do promote it as an add on but thats not how it generally works.

The fare that comes with "flexibility", SC's etc. is $1000 in my example.

If the sale fare is $399 ... the fare difference is $601 ...

Yes, now what is that general consumer principle about being able to understand the product from the marketing. If it is marketed as an add-on, they at the least fail ethics and possibly fail at meeting their obligations.

Re: jetstar 'business' class sale! Lots of dates... combine with UL/QR/AY for cheap E

Yes its like booking J class (full fare biz, but displays on website as with bundle)) or Z class (discount business but shows on site as no bundle ) . Z class is on sale. J class remains the same. Z class is a non earning ff class.

It's nothing like that. They are selling two products, not one.

And I still disagree.

In the SIN lounge there are showers, Australian newspapers, service staff. comfortable chairs, announcements, working (and actually available) internet. The list goes on and on. Apart from the quite good food and drinks. And no need to pay of any of it.

I've been through SIN 100s of times. Even my SIN friends (who used to say the exactly same as MEL_Traveller), now agree. SIN is a good airport, but gee... it's still just an airport.

Re: jetstar 'business' class sale! Lots of dates... combine with UL/QR/AY for cheap E

Perhaps we need to move some posts to the JQ sub thread in the Qantas thread regarding why Biz bundles prices fluctuate.
Would be good if 'The Checkout' could shed light on why a biz bundle eg costs $200 during non sale periods but eg can cost $600 during sales?

Re: jetstar 'business' class sale! Lots of dates... combine with UL/QR/AY for cheap E

A reference to the thread is now in "The Checkout"'s incoming tip-off email queue.:mrgreen:

Wonder how much longer biz bundles will exist?

Maybe it was the 'novelty' of the situation in my case that formed the view? I'd arrived from HKG and had a bit of time to kill before heading out into SIN. I found an upstairs lounge area that was pretty amazing... palm trees, big comfortable chairs, spacious, fully carpeted. Smoking area just beside. Power points at every chair, and changi wifi that was working very well.

I sat there and thought 'wow... who needs a lounge?'

Those who would like showers, newspapers, service staff, comfortable chairs, work areas, fast internet - even a printer perhaps, flight announcements, quite good food and drinks and no need to pay of any of it?

Pretty much the same at any airport really.

I must admit SIN is a great airport. But it impresses me less and less each time I visit. It's more hype than substance IMO. T1 is pretty coughpy now too.

Re: jetstar 'business' class sale! Lots of dates... combine with UL/QR/AY for cheap E

fully carpeted.

That is probably responsible for that dank, wet carpet smell I notice each time I arrive at SIN (T1)? Not a great plus IMO.
