Jetstar Dreamliner J Class -is it worth it?

no, it sux. With a seat in front, you can put your legs under the seat and get incredibly more room. The bulkhead prevents that. But I'm over 6 ft, maybe it's fine for little people?

Agree. Prefer Row2 even with the person in front reclining.
Unless there is a bulkhead cutout (eg QF 747s those rows are poor)

For me, a rolla-bag as a fully flat horizontal footrest at row 1 would be more comfortable than row 2. If the legroom at row 1 is indeed reduced (over the JQ A332s) bending the knees might be necessary. But I'd still have them level with the seat pan which relieves a whole range of problems like swollen ankles.

YMMV.

I just flew the DPS-SYD redeye in JQ J on the weekend, so thought I would provide some feedback here.

In summary, the soft product was very good but the hard product was terrible for an overnight flight in "business class".

I was in 1C. The legroom was okay, but the bulkhead prevented me from properly being able to stretch my legs. Next time I would choose row 2 or 3 (although I am quite tall). The seat is a leather recliner seat with what purports to be a footrest. Seat width is fine. I think that for a daytime flight it's adequate, but very uncomfortable for sleeping in.

The soft product was good though. A nice meal was served after takeoff, accompanied by a decent choice of wines (including champagne). Service from the Bangkok-based crew was warm, attentive and professional. Nothing was too difficult.

One disappointment was that there was no lounge access in DPS as a QF Gold member. (I didn't purchase the Business max bundle, but thought that QF Gold would get me in... apparently not.)

Sure, it beats JQ Y. But I'm not sure it's really worth paying much of a premium for this product.

Gave up on J in Jetstar when the 332 went. The new seats on the 787 are terrible as the iron bar footrest digs into your feet an hour or so into the flight.

Really? Surprised. As a VA WP in Y I flew back from DPS in 2013 and had lounge access. Look, you didn't miss that much, but if your flight is 11:30 pm like mine was the lounge is a good place to rest up, definitely. Also sort of suprising no Q rights as don't Garuda still use the Q Business Lounge in AU? Although I guess the DPS lounge may not be theirs, but I'll bet they use it.

I did question it but was told it was a definite "no" because the lounge was an "associated lounge", not a Qantas lounge. (I think this is extremely poor, and have sent feedback to Qantas Freq Flyer letting them know about my thoughts...)

I ended up paying for entry to the neighbouring lounge used by QR, which wasn't too bad. The entry price was about $33 and included some decent food options, a shower and a 15 minute massage, although there was a limit of one free alcoholic drink.

I used the lounge in DPS when I flew DPS - BNE on JQ last year. While it is t an ideal sleeping seat, it was ok foe me, I had the max bundle, was in 1A, and the seat next to me was occupied by a really Big guy, but no problems, so for a LCC the product was fine from my perspective.
