hi everyone - thanks for that - Ive called Jetstar firstly they advice yes seats 11 g-j are limited recline - 5 inches? and then i got a response from custom care (head office) and they said in fact no there no limitation on the recline ...lol so confusing i can see there is a bathroom behind us.....but its a dayfight so thats a bonus with kids i guess...and it looks like that front section in economy is its own little mini cabin??? thoughts?

'standard' economy class recline is in the region of 6 inches, but I'm not sure what Jetstar offers for its economy. So 5 inches would indeed be 'limited' compared to legacy carriers... but not by much!

Rear bulkhead walls can be confusing... but even in business class, where seats look really close to the bulkhead, they still have the standard recline. It's a bit of an optical illusion sometimes.

i think we will take the middle 3 seats - its a 3-3-3 configuration and the 3 in middle from row are available..

Having just done HKT-MEl on the JQi Dreamliner I will avoid this plane like the plague.

Whilst the aircraft itself was quiet enough etc the seat configuration is horrid, 3-3-3 is tight making the seat width feel very tight and even I struggled to fit. Seat is 17 wide compared to A330 17.5 inches.

Seat recline was not as bad as expected however the 30 inch seat pitch, compared to A330 at 31 inches made for a very uncomfortable journey not being able to stretch out properly.

The configuration at the rear of the plane that includes the crew rest area in the galley doesn't allow for some where to stand and stretch and chat to crew as one might on say an A330. With the last row being directly in line with the rear door this again effectively reduces the possibility of standing and stretching around the door area.

Over all not the most pleasant of experiences.

We travel to NRT in 'JQ Business' cabin. The small economy cabin at the front of economy looked like the best choice & worth the small extra cost.
The main cabin looked so crowded. The cabin crew advised me not to go back to use the economy toilets, when I enquired about doing so. Sounds like the pax to Loo ratio is not good.
The three seat rows might suit a family but best avoided when travelling as a couple (longhaul/overnight).
