Jetstar Economy Classic Reward Baggage

Qantas/Jetstar need to fix the correct baggage allowance entitlements on their websites.

Booked JQ CNS/DPS using QFF Points. Booking on Qantas website shows 30kg, Jetstar 20kg.
Confirmed by online chat with Jetstar entitlement is 30kg.

This is where it gets interesting, wife likes to take heaps of presents over.
Intend to purchase the extra 10kg on the Jetstar website.
Jetstar Manange My Booking shows 20kg each, purchase the increase from 20kg to 30kg $33 each.
Purchase 20kg to 40kg, $45 each. My calculation is that we should only be paying $12 each for
the extra 10kg. Of course no Club Jetstar discount either.
Will most likely pay the $33 each but they are double dipping.

Tried Jetstar twitter, not getting much sense, emailed Qantas, see what happens.
Got until December.
I meant to ask at DPS yesterday what they could see for baggage allowance (I was well under 20kg - so it didn't matter) but we got distracted by some other kerfuffles.

They wouldn't check through or issue BPs for our onward connection on QF PER-SYD. Some BS about QF baggage checkin wasn't open (only available 3 hrs before), so they cant do it! What cough.

We knew the actual baggage check through was academic since we need to collect our bags and schlep from PER T1 to T3/4 and recheck the bags there but no BP meant we'd have to go to a service desk - and they're becoming rare. Fortunately it was pretty quiet and straight into a priority desk...

so if Im reading this all correctly

the CR reward comes with free checked baggage but no seat selection
the JQ website comes with no free checked baggage and paid seat selection

BTW on the fare I was looking at

base fare is $85
with seating $97

CR reward 9,600 points + $28 (can pay with any credit card)
JQ Points plus pay base fare is 9,600 points + $24 (onlly Visa/Mcard)
JQ Points plus pay with seating is 9,600 points + $38

no status credits obviously and the lounge unlikely open later in the evening anyway

i probably favour the extra legroom at $12 more

Miss Flyfrequently did MEL-DPS return on A320 recently and was very grateful that we sprung for the extra legroom, $12 × 2 well spent.

I am doing a CR BNE - MEL - SIN and back. It is showing up as 30kg on Qantas but nothing (a dash) on Jetstar Booking summary. Contacted Jetstar and the CSO confirmed it is 30kg.

Happy to report, logged onto Jetstar MMB for a Qantas Reward Jetstar Flight CNS/DPS in August.
Showing the correct baggage entitlement of 30kg each and the option to purchase 10kg extra each.

As another datapoint to the contrary, I have a multi-segment Qantas domestic Classic Reward flight in Y (QF ex-CNS, connecting to a JQ segment ex-BNE) and JQ MMB is showing zero checked baggage allowance.

The PDF e-ticket states "23kg (50lb) total (no piece limit)" for the JQ flight, so I'd suggest that this issue is still present with JQ not showing the right amount of baggage (at least for some bookings, or perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place).

Do I also understand correctly from reading the previous posts here, that the bags will only be tagged from CNS-BNE and that I'll have to collect and re-check in BNE for the final JQ segment, even though the flights are on the same booking?

This is normal behaviour with JQ's system as they don't have piece based allowances so the system is confused and shows nothing.

As per above JQ doesn't have piece based allowances but as this is booked with a QF domestic flight you'll get the same 23kg allowance on the JQ flight (on the JQ operated flight there is no piece limit but instead you have a 23kg weight limit). QF status benefits don't apply to the JQ operated flight.

This is correct, you'll need to check in for the JQ flight separately by collecting your luggage off the QF flight and rechecking it at the JQ machines. In Brisbane both the QF luggage claims and JQ check in kiosks/self service bag drop are located in the same area. It's worth keeping in mind your connection time and that JQ only opens airport check in/bag drop 120 mins prior to departure and closes 40 mins prior to departure. Once checked in you can either head upstairs to security or if eligible directly into the QF lounge via the premium entry.

I just booked a Jetstar flight Bri to Bali with QFF points and while booking it showed I’d get 30kg baggage. I’ve now received the PDF itinerary and it doesn’t show baggage limits anywhere. When I add the flight to my Jetstar log in it shows 23kg baggage! So which is correct? IMG_7798.jpeg
