Re: JetStar - exceeds expectations time and time again... another quality Qantas prod

The A320 is certainly a few inches wider in fuselage diameter but wouldn't expect that to be addressed by the makeover - would require a new fuselage (i.e. new aircraft). I have never had Airbus claim to me that the A320 is quieter and never noticed it myself. The A320 has choice of 2 engines and only one of these engines is the same as that on the B737. JQ & TT (& NZ I think) all operated the V2500 engine which is the one not in common with the B737. If you want an aircraft that is noticably quieter try the E170/190 - this and the widest single aisle seats in the skies make it my personal favourite as a pax.

I do plan to try the E170/190's just that I need to be on a sector where it operates (and I am still mostly trans-con!)

. If you want an aircraft that is noticably quieter try the E170/190 - .

Or the A380 although I guess I'm wandering OT and you're not going to fly that on DJ or JQ anytime soon!! Have flown both the E170 and the A380 (in fact on the same day) and both were noticably quieter than other planes (almost disconcertingly quiet).

Another thing about the E170 - I loved the thrust as we were taking off (not to mention the 21min flying time CBR-SYD), something you just don't get on the bigger birds (particulary the 380 where it is very much a feeling of "Oh I didn't realise we'd taken off yet").
