Jetstar "Extra leg room seats"

I certainly know that if it happened to me, and they refused a refund or voucher, a consumer complaint regarding failing to provide a paid for service would be lodged quick smart.

And no doubt a request to your credit card company to query the charge.

There's a bit more to this.

My B-I-L flew MEL-CNS yesterday on a light fare. On check-in he as if there were any exit row seats available and was told indeed there were. Also he was told he could have on for an additional $40!:shock:

... he declined the offer, opting for what turned out to be an empty row of three down the back ...

Thats weird, I did the same thing on the lite fare a couple of weeks ago, Syd-Lst and Lst-Syd, got exit rows both ways for $0....:mrgreen: I asked very nicely though...

Also I don't know if the booking engine is broken at the moment but it is allowing extra leg room seats to be selected for free!

I flew to the sunshine coast with JQ a week ago. Was told no exit row at check in at Sydney. Asked again in QC, no worries with them and got the seat.
Asked at Maroochydore on the way home. 1st person to check in for this flight, had to really wrangle the agent who told me that as I had already checked in on line I shouldnt be able to change. She did change it for no fee in the end. Middle seat empty as well.

Off to coughet in Nov and have pre-paid for the "extra leg room" seats, but this is a much longer flight. Also off to Hamilton island in Oct and have done the same thing. It makes sense to me for any flight over 1.5 hours.

This was 2½ weeks ago, just after this was introduced. Maybe the check-in staff are forgetting or policy has changed at check-in.

I have noticed, the $30 is not now being mentioned when you select an exit seat online, but is certainly applied to the fare total when you go to pay.
