Hi out there intrepid bargain hunters. I've been keeping an eye on Jetstar flights to Japan leaving after Xmas and coming back end of Jan for a bit of ski/sushi. They only have released their direct Gold Coast to Tokyo flights in the last few days and they are pretty expensive at $1000 each. Does anyone out there know when Jetstar routinely has their sales out each year? Thanks for any help you can give.

I think it may be unlikely to get a Sale fare for the Xmas holidays. Could be worth looking at the Asian airlines during that period.
JQ usually has a Birthday Sale around 6 May each year with 2 for1 fares to Japan - but the travel period excludes Dec-Jan.
Otherwise you could use points for a Classic Award if available (around 70,000).

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, though realistically this is peak season & it is/would be unlikely that JQ discount fares during this period. I could be wrong though...
Perhaps as an alternative try one of the asian carriers.
if you keep monitoring the fares & you see an attractive price, grab it while you can..
Cheers,
jl :D

If you are happy to go outside of ski season, the 2-4-1 sale is terrific value. I used it a few years ago and went in July - it's the middle of their summer so they think it's too hot to be outside that much (Disneyland wasnt that busy) but 'too hot' for them is 30 degrees.
