Jetstar I do not want breakfast at 2.45am

What gets me more annoyed is the type of meal being served.

On a QF30 flight a few months back, leaving LHR in the evening, we were served dinner. Fair enough that's to be expected.

Upon approach into SIN, we were served Breakfast... and landed at around 7:30pm. What the hell is with that? I can appreciate it was around 12 hours of flying, but just because it's been 12 hours since I ate a full meal does not mean I want the next 'in sequence' meal; serve me something light on take off (call it supper or a snack if you like) and then dinner on landing.

I also despise it when an airline forces people to close window shades on a daytime flight. Flying from DOH to BRU earlier in the year I was forced to do so, despite it being only a 7 hour flight, and times being conducive to leaving blinds open for people to be in a 'normal day' time zone.

Perhaps they need a 'Sun or No Sun' zone on a plane (replace the no smoking sign with a no-window-shutters sign) ;)

If I was on QF30 landing in SIN, the meal wouldn't be high on my list of priorities ;)

Strangely enough, I was just thinking this as I loaded the thread! *hides in the corner studying QF flight number manuals to ensure mistake is not repeated ;)*

Was not QF30. I usually take that, but opted for QF10 to take the A380 (btw munitalP if you're reading this, suck it up it's a much nicer experience than the 747 if you're stuck down the back of the b*s!).

I've never understood why CX bring on a feed an hour past midnight on the HKG/CNS flights, everyone wants to sleep, waste of money for them, and annoying the pax at same time.

Because some people like getting a meal (eg me), even at halfpast midnight...

That's a bit like the analogy of teaching a pig to sing - it's a waste of time & it annoys the pig! (Robert Heinlein)

It takes a lot of discipline, but there is a solution. There was this advice from a long haul pilot's blog the other day.
The advice was in relation to decreasing the effects of jetlag but it also applies to the service wake ups.

He never has the airline meal service.
He brings his own food on board.
He sets his watch to his destination time and eats according to that.
He wears an eye mask with a 'No Meal Service Please' sticker on the outside, and
He wears noise reduction headphones.

He forgot to mention smell though. I was trying to do all of the above recently, however, my nose smelt the bacon and coffee coming in the early hours and
I lost all control. Just had to take it all off and have it. Guess you could add nose plugs to the above list! ;)

How do you breathe after all that? I'd be more scared about that rather than trying to block smells...

You certainly wouldn't have to worry about jet lags after that, would you?

But yes... I find that changing the watch as soon as after take-off works very well for reducing jetlag... surprisingly, I was completely functional after doing SIN-HKG-LHR-FCO, all of which in Y or Y+...
