Jetstar - it was as bad as I feared

I've flown Jestar twice this year- no complaints and a very attentive FA on one trip- to the point where I emailed Jetstar to acknowledge the individual and received a $25- voucher for my efforts.

Maybe just good luck, but thats my (minimal) experience and, as they say, YMMV :)

Note: 99.9% of my flights are QF- so that's the benchmark (although an increasingly lower one).

Our problem is with the other passengers that JQ attracts. You know there's a problem when people are smashing through tinnies of Jim Beam on a 6:00AM flight. They pack a rugby scrum to get on and off the plane. They bring two or three carry on bags that are each over the size and weight limit. They whinge that "this is buuulllshiiiiit" when they aren't provided first class service for their rock-bottom fare. They have poor personal hygiene. They don't control their children. They have no respect for other people. Maybe I've just had bad experiences because I only fly JQ to Darwin on flights that continue to Bali. :D

I have no problems with some of the passengers JQ attract - and yes I have seen them!! There will always be a minority few who behave like turkey's during but I'm prepared and I don't even care. I have my NC headphones, iPad playing, and probably too sleepy after a big meal in the F Lounge in any event to worry. As long as the person in front, whoever it is, chooses not to recline, then I am one happy flyer in Y. Full Recliner's (yes it's their privilige to do so) are my #1 pet hate when in Y.

Aww... c'mon, you guys exaggerate some times. JQ's not that bad. You check-in (okay, sometimes they're a bit grumpy and focused on enforcing the baggage limit), you board (okay, sometimes they get rows 1-15 to step aside), you get on the plane (okay, sometimes the FA at the door ignores you... but hey, why do the other airlines look at your boarding pass anyway...?), the flight takes off (let's hope the pilot checked his seat belt wasn't broken before the door closed! see another post of mine), they serve food (I've never seen someone sculling a JB at 6am.. but hey, why not...?), you land

Totally agree with you and pretty much this has been exactly the same as my VA experiences as well. Pretty much JQ = VA, just costs less.

Neither bad nor fantastic but both do the job :)
