Everyone knows about SJU... I'm thinking of going there with Delta (who are cheaper) and back with AA.. Will allow maintain platninum on QF and earn Platinum on DJ..... Although need to know how DJ award DL flights, or more importantly, what a sector is defined as (e.g is it just HNL-SJU, or is it HNL-AAA-BBB-CCC-SJU, each being separate segments ?)

It's the latter (hnl-aaa-bbb-sju etc) with delta and va. Remember though that earn is at the J rate not an F rate. Still a good way to rack up SCs on VA.

Pretty much every International launch they have done in the past, another sale has followed the cheap launch fare. Obviously more expensive but better availability, dates etc..

But VA SCs are based on distance, not route. Why is it so lucrative? Because it's far away but cheap to get to?

No, because long haul international flights and partner flights are different to domestic and long have been.

Ha classic. I think some of the people who work in marketing at Jetstar are geographically challenged. I was on the phone with them a week or so ago and the hold promos announced "Jetstar fly to ## countries including Australia, Vietnam, Hawaii, Singapore etc". I'm pretty sure a lot of people worked fairly hard to make it only a state!
