Just wait until they ‘upgrade’ the 787s fairly soon. Going to get even more miserable down the back.

Surely they can't go lower than 30 inch pitch for longhaul? Scoot and AirAsia have 30-31 and 32 respectively. They might add an Economy X like solution for a couple of rows tho.

I'm struggling to understand these comments.

I used to be totally against Jetstar until I started flying them. I did MEL-BKK return 2 years ago and the 787's were OK but I may have purchased the seats at the front from memory.

We just did TG economy CNX-BKK followed by SQ economy BKK-SIN-SYD and then VA business SYD-BNE. Left our house in Chiang Mai 9:45am Friday morning and got to BNE apartment 9:00pm last night.

The reason I went via SYD was to avoid SQ A350-900 but to be honest for someone like me 130+ kgs the 777 and A380 are not much better. My wife is still tired from the 4 flights.

I found 3 award seats on JQ BKK-BNE end April next year for 64,500 QFF points and ~AUD330. I want to give this a go. I like the 9:20pm departure from BKK. I'll be in Pattaya playing golf that week but I can also do a full day's work on the day of the flight and get taxi up to BKK airport at 3:00pm and wife/daughter can leave CNX late afternoon and we meet at BKK airport around 6:00pm.

Details are unknown at this stage. They are going to the slimline recaro seats which are certainly less thick, comfort wise not as great.

Adding Econ X like rows would certainly mean the pitch would need to pull back to 29.

Rows 55-57 will likely be removed for crew rest. Pitch might be tighter on the back cabin bit.

Here is the new J cabin. I would still happily fly this seat.

won't they just hand them down to QF which is why the A330s are absolutely horrible on QF in Y.

Looks like a PE product.

I would refer to it as Economy Plus. It’s a bit like the US calling its Domestic recliners ‘First’.

I recall back in the day it was called StarClass

Just hope they keep PTV screens in both classes.

IIRC they are getting rid of the built IFE screens in favour of BYOD Streaming, thus the new seats also have device holders and USB power similar to the new VA Y seats.

so the demand is obviously there.
Well yes, just look at the prices.

I had a look at Google Flights today for a PE flight from BKK to SYD (R/T) later this year and CX came out cheaper than JQ.

OK. CX is via HKG, but the lounges there make up for the extra journey time, and I don't think that the CX customer experience would be that much worse.

Those seats remind me of Air Canada’s Boeing 737 MAX business class seats.

So I booked one-away award for 3 of us BNE-BKK for beginning of school holidays Apr 2025.

64,500 QFF points + $380. (Note that I checked return airfare and it was close to $900 each with no luggage allowance. Assuming that luggage for 3 of us is $300 return then I got close to 2c per point value for my useless QFF points during school holidays)

Funny thing when I tried to go into the booking on JQ website to check and pay for seats, a message came up please pay $929 to complete your booking. Umm no.

Note I'm not keen on return leg as there is no lounge access in BKK.

I’ve had that before. Just ignore it does go away.
