Miss B has a Jetstar flight, will have a small carry-on bag but with books may be 8kg. Horror.
If weighted at the gate, do Jetstar give the option to have her (small) bag put in the aircraft hold (rewards ticket so has checked luggage entitlement)? Or will a $60 (?) fee be her only option?
Add : or, any issue with checking in a handbag size luggage?

I think she'd be charged. Regardless, I would check the bag to save any hassles. The last time I flew Jetstar they weighed and tagged every carry on bag as we lined up to board.

I think your right I'll advise her, though a pain to be waiting at the Sydney carousel in the evening just because of a few books.
