Jetstar Web Checkin

Ancient history thread revived yet again but rather than start a new one.

I'm one of those who's vowed never to fly with them again but sometimes you just have no option.

I'm flying SYD-TSV with JQ and returning with QF. Thus I made my booking through QF with a QF booking reference number. Of course you can't do online check-in via the QF site with a JQ flight (why???)

So I copied my reference numbers to the JQ site web check-in and of course I get the message:
"Sorry but the information you entered does not match any valid booking. Please check you have completed all the fields below correctly and try again."

Arrgghh!!!!

No explanation in the QF paperwork as how to do it. Is it just the JQ system? I'll only have hand luggage so could just turn up. Can I even check-in using the QC in T2?

From memory there is a separate JQ booking reference, and you need to ring Qantas to ask them to give it to you.

I'm not sure about checkin in the QC. I know you can check in using the business lounge - not going to help for T2 in SYD

JQ reservation system is different to QF system, so that's the reason why you cannot check-in using QF's res number on JQ. Just call QF for JQ's reservation number.

Also you can check-in for any JQ flight without baggage in the QP.

Thanks. I rang QF and they gave me a reference number which worked. The QF staffperson didn't think it would though.

Useless system though, either it's the same airline family or it isn't. If there's no compatibility at this level then you shouldn't be able to book JQ via QF.

And now my selected seat shows up on my QF bookings page!

Bump this thread.

Not only can the QF reservation code not be used for Jetstar online check-in, there's no indication on the QF frequent flyer site or on the printed itinerary that a separate Jetstar reservation code exists. I'm not sure how people would know to call up for on.

There is little reason to fly Jetstar other than lounge access, in this case.
