Jetstar's reduced baggage allowance to Honolulu

Did you make it clear that you were flying on JQ and did you get them to send you an email confirming it

Make sure that you get confirmation from QF so that if JQ charges you excess baggage fees over 23Kg that you have evidence

The Qantas rep logged into my frequent flyer account and viewed the booking and immediately confirmed that I can check 2x23kg as I am ticketed as a Qantas pax- however Dave's advice to get a confirming email is solid - I can already visualise a grim faced person in an orange dress grabbing the credit card swiper!!

I don't think you get to play double jeopardy and ask for another check-in agent if the one you get doesn't know the rules...

Indeed. get it in writing so if you do get charged you can claim it back

Why are Jetstar saying 1 x 20kg and then advising 2 x 32kg. Which is correct ?

The allowance is 2 x 32kg if you booked and paid before ( iirc ) 1 Nov otherwise it is 23 Kg maximum. You can check in multiple pieces as long as they do not exceed the 23Kg in total

Returned from my Jetstar Honolulu trip on Qantas Classic redemption award tix, we had two checked pieces each under, or right on 23kgs, no questions asked at either end.

Even though I'm no fan of Jetstar - they had an "offer I couldn't refuse". Through the weekly Lonely Planet 2-for-1 deal we are flying to HNL for $790 all up (incl tax etc) return (Yes, that's for 2 adults).
I (a fermale) tend to travel to the US each year to vacation and to shop for my family. While it won't be quite the bonanza it was last year, its still very worthwile both in terms of choice and price.
Not to get into any of the nastiness above, but those of you (men, of course) who don't shop when travelling to the US are missing something. Over the years, Mr Sammy has bought top designer suits (Hugo Boss, Zegna, Armani) for much less than Oz, sometimes half. Same goes for shoes, suitcases and jewellery esp diamonds (esp New York). Also Abercrombie (& Fitch) Gap and Zara for the teens and young adults. Going in November and hoping to tick off the Xmas list.
Which brings me to my problem - only 20kg baggage allowance! We are both qantas gold ffers. Am I correcly understanding above - we don't get the extra 10kg with jetstar?
Has anyone shipped back their excess baggage from Hawaii? If so, can you advise re prices and carriers? I vaguely remember once (when living in Japan) I mailed home a box of stuff through the US post office (A lot of Japanese do this). A good tip to avoid duty here is to send back your used stuff and carry home the new, tagged stuff (gifts).

I have just checked it out and they have international pre-paid boxes which each hold a max of 20 pounds:
-Prioriy mail international LARGE flat rate box: US$53.95 12x12x5.5 (inches)
- Priority mail international REG/MEDIUM flat rate box: US$41.95 11x8.5x5.5 (inches)
Delivery 6-10 business days.
This includes the actual box, too.
MUCH cheaper than excess baggage.
From memory, there is a post office right there in the Ala Moana Shopping centre. Makes it so cheap and easy its almost not fair...
If sending o/s purchases, un-package and try to use them a little first.
Now I'm thinking xmas decorations and bedding....

I just had some books delivered from the USA in one of these boxes. Delivery was less than 6 days. Very efficient. Definitely a good option if the size is right for the items being transported. Obviously also need the customs declaration. My total purchase price was about US$150 (including the shipping cost) so no duty payable and it must have flown through customs without delay.
