Im on QF1 in a month or so, and will be having a stopover in Singapore for a few days, before departing on QF1 again to LHR a few days later.
I have not seen the Jewel yet so planned to see that on the last night before departing, after a day of sightseeing.

According to the Jewel website you can only check in bags for Qantas up until 15:15pm, QF1 departs at 23:25pm....
Normal check in should be open around 19:00 or 20:00pm I assume.

Why is there a 4 hour gap when you cant check luggage at either place?

There is another section about online check in but then says you must carry it to the airlines desk...and then do what?
If nobody is there who takes it? If somebody is there then you dont need online luggage check in.

Im confused....

Anybody been there lately and tried to drop luggage around 18:00?

QF check-in counters will be open earlier than that at there's a flight to PER the departs around 7:20pm. I'm not sure if that means that you'd be able to check-in for your flight earlier though. I'm sure some people who are more knowledgeable than me might have better insights.

You can check in to QF flights at jewel early check in (not check in desk area) much earlier than that. At least 12h before your flight (not sure if that's your flight or QF's first flight).

The 15:15 would be the QF check in desks being opened for the first QF flights departing SIN.

Also budget a bit of time for the jewel. You can easily spend 8h there eating, exploring, shopping and doing things without feeling bored on the first trip. I literally spent 6h last trip (4th to SIN in 3 years) running around chasing things for my partner's Sanrio addiction (there's usually some sort of attraction going on ar Changi and Jewel).

Yes it opens at 8:00am but then shuts at 15:15pm.
So after that go to the Qantas Desks I guess.

I didnt consider any earlier flights by Qantas so that would explain it.
Most other airlines on the list cut off 3 hours prior to the flight, (desks open), so I wondered why Qantas cut off 8 hours early.

Yeah there's a lot of QF flights everyday out of SIN (7-8 I believe).

QF72 is the first off the rank at 19:15 (hence the 4h earlier check in desk open). Then QF36, QF52, QF2, QF292, QF84/82 (sometimes), QF1 and last QF38.

Not sure if you have lounge access or not, but the quietest to get a shower would be around 8-9pm. This is after the first waves of flights have left (or gone to gate) but before QF1 arrives in with a fresh load of passengers.

Down to complementary passes now...so probably Q Lounge.
Thanks for the tip.

Is there time for a lounge visit on QF2 on the way back? Im going straight through LHR to SYD, and there is only like a 2 hour gap, last time I stopped over both ways.

By the time Jewel early check in for Qantas flights closes, the Qantas counters in the central area of the T1 check in concourse are open. These are mainly self service, as is Jewel.

Effectively you can check luggage in at Changi for all Qantas flights that day - all day.

Theres time, but QF2 timings would be very crowded. So I'm not sure if you'd be able to get in with passes. That's the absolute peak of the lounge usage usually.

If everything is on time and assuming you are in economy don't waste a pass.

At best you'd have 20 minutes.

It depends on punctuality of QF2, but if a average paced walker, and not concerned about being first to board the aircraft, should be able to get 50-60 mins in the lounge (being at gate 30 mins before departure). If wanting to board early to secure locker space, then 20-30 minutes probably sounds about right.

Im in PE, but hoping for an upgrade.
I didnt think there would be much time so wasnt gonna waste a pass...especially now you have to nominate flights etc and not just give them the cardboard.
I'll see how it pans out on the day.
