Can anyone advise what points and taxes are for MEL-NRT return in Y & J for any date? I am overseas and cannot for the life of me get it to search for classic reward flights on mobile (Android).

J is AUD312.04. Sorry I could not find any Y but did not look that hard just a few random dates.

Is that on JL? Only reason I ask is that I thought the fuel fines for JL were like $4 each way, not sure of the airport taxes though - so it's probably right.

$312 return is correct. Bit more than half the Cost is for the outbound leg.

You certainly can.
Thanks. I've tried a few dates for Brisbane to New York but only CX, BA and Qantas are showing up. Any idea what the route might be? Is it via Tokyo or another city? And does JAL fly to the same places as CX, which I think is LA, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, New York and Washington DC?

To the best of my knowledge JAL fly direct to LAX, SFO and JFK. The flights from BNE go into NRT most of the JAL international to US, UK, EU etc depart HND so there is a airport change both are in Tokyo just seperated. There are some services xKiX but I think that is only to LA

Change Washington to San Diego and you have their destinations.

I think JL may only be currently flying out of MEL & SYD

I should have been more precise yes JAL only fly xMEL and xSYD. If you do a multi city BNE-NRT-HND- US destination rewards can be booked with combination QF then onwards to US with AA or JL, if this is what you are wanting you will most likely need to overnight in Tokyo.

As a side note, I travel to Japan a bit so I think this is a great improvement however there seems to be a few limitations. As an example I have rewards flights PEK-HND but need to end in CTS, at the time of booking the reward seats HND-CTS were not available and QF advised they would add them in later and waive the points change fees.

As at today I can see reward seats are available HND-CTS on the day we need to travel are available, in fact on almost every flight and class. When I rang QF to get these added to the booking QF advised that they could not add these to the existing booking but they could see the availability. I can make seperate bookings (more points and insignificant) however these will be under a separate PNR and I would rather keep in a single PNR so if there are delays it becomes JAL's problem to sortout in case of delays and missed connections rather than mine.

Maybe just few teething issues.

Try searching multitrip Aus-NRT, NRT-USA

To the best of my knowledge there are no flights that connect xAU to NRT then onwards to US, UK or EU on the same day happy to proven wrong.
In direct response to the post I quoted, I was merely saying you can find and book on QF, Australia to the USA via Japan awards if searching multicity. These will not appear if searching as one way AUS-USA, which is what BettyB was asking. "Can you get to the US with JAL?" in context of booking QF award`online.
