We are looking to a trip to Germany in July 2012. And I thought why not go through Jordan. The best route I can see from AKL for price and times are AKL-SYD QF 142
SYD-BKK QF 23
BKK-AMM RJ 183 WITH 4-6 DAY STOPOVER, arrives 5.15 am
AMM-TXL RJ121 departs 10.30am

and same route home without stopping.

1. Any better route suggestions.
2. Any endorsements for RJ?
3. Any suggestions on what to see and how long to spend in Jordan, hotels etc. We will be a party of 3 ( Mrs and daughter ) and have 1 J fare and 2 Y.:(
4. I cant see any conditions on fares but hope we can stoppover in Amman

Looking forward to comments

2. Any endorsements for RJ?

Its been a number of years, but I found RJ to be a solid, if not outstanding, experience. Value for money was good.

3. Any suggestions on what to see

I guess the obvious big "must see" is a day trip out to Petra, two days would be even better depending on what else you want to see and there are hotels out that way.

We are going to use RJ in July next year too.Planning on a 4 night stopover.A good start is the RJ website and they have suggested stopovers. When I am home next week will post links to some of the sites we have used planning the stopover-not on my travel netbook.

Did BKK-AMM-DXB return in April. Solid. Service fine but not exceptional and I would load up the iPhone since IFE is not great. Lounge in AMN is also fine once you figure out where the door is (upstairs out of duty free) with a good view of the apron. I know it intimately since I had a 7 hour layover in there

On the way to Petra, take a look at the Valley of Moses-stunning. Then there's the Dead Sea and Jericho.

We stayed at Le Royale and got a reasonable price through the hotel brokers you access when you look in Trip Advisor.

Amman's worth a good day for sightseeing and browsing.

I flew DXB-AMM-LCA on RJ last year - AMM-LCA was on their new Biz class that was fully flat beds (bit of a waste on a 2 hour flights). Overall a solid airline - AMM was a disgraceful airport though :(
