Apart from the IFE, would you consider the new configuration better than the old one?

"No! No different. Only different in your mind. You must unlearn what you have learned." (Yoda was not a big fan of IFE ).

Flew home in a brand new one but the trip over was an older one. I personnally prefered the older one as I thought the seats were just a bit more comfy

Only 4 International birds left Serfty - brings down the age a bit, OGB turned into a freighter July last year, OGM is domestic!

Old list!

Ok-14.5y

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

I didn't feel like a fool when I flew on QF4 last month on a JASA & had the choice of the in seat IFE with the entertainment or an individual Panasonic DVD player which each J pax was offered along with their own set of DVDs to choose from.

Wow, that's a contrast to our QF3 experience in mid-April. Upgraded to J on points, and there wasn't even in-seat IFE in J, only mainscreen TVs. Would have been nicer to have individual Panasonic DVD players.

JQ's prices to HNL have been very high compared to a year or two ago!

Not many good sale fares either, adding a 2nd service on selected days is good news, and will hurt HA as well to a degree

2 things that may influence that is 1.) a year or 2 ago, the USD was only just rising to the parity level so therefore not that many travellers had started the exodis and 2.) We had, all be it for only a very short time, some extra competition in the form of Air Australia (strategic)

Did they operate a domestic config 767? All Dreamtime seats have in-seat (well, in-arm-rest) IFE. Or was the IFE broken on that flight?

I do acknowledge that the in-seat screens in the 767 Dreamtime seats are small, low-res, and poor quality. But they generally do work. Personally I always carry my own (laptop or iPad).

All international in April

It was indeed OGS (Fri 13th - unlucky for some): http://www.australianfrequentflyer....available-international-38461.html#post593640

Katie mentioned it in that thread; I was very surprised when Katie reported so and went to extra lengths to be sure (read the linked thread).

I'm as bamboozled as you. The FAs told us (all J pax) there was no PIFE. One of them tried to find it with another pax across the cabin, but could not. Movies were only shown on the TVs in the ceiling. Throughout the flight, not a single J pax managed to find or use the PIFE that should have been there.

Why would they have shown the main screen movies in the J cabin when there was PIFE available? Unless there was some other issue with IFE that wasn't advertised???

I was in 2A at the start, with the rest of the family in the middle seats in row 2. Mr Katie and I both looked for the PIFEs, as otherwise the cabin looked exactly the same as when we flew in J on QF4 in May 2009. We couldn't find them.

I realise I sound like a crazy woman insisting on this, but that was our experience. And we didn't have that much champagne in the FLounge first!! ;)

What do you mean you/they couldn't "find" it - had the screens been removed from the armrest?

There was no screen to find. After boarding, and were waiting before takeoff (or possibly this was up in the air, I can't recall the exact timing), I saw someone in row 1 asking a J FA about PIFE, and he looked around the armrests for them, and the FA said there were none. My husband and I also looked around the armrests of our seats, given we'd flown in the same config 3 yeears earlier, and we could not see the PIFE screens in the arm rests. There were no gaping holes, but there were no screens in the armrests.

There was no "oh, you need to press this button" or "pull this lever" or anything like that with the pax, like what happens when you're in a bulkhead or exit row on most of QF aircraft.

We might have had 3 J FAs who were completely unfamiliar with that kind of plane config. The CSM certainly struggled with the video system early in the flight & read out very old arrivals information (references to the green form) from a manual. We could have also had a full J cabin who took them at their word, and didn't manage to discover how to get the screens out, including myself and Mr Katie.

Is there any way that RedRoo can confirm either way if the Personal IFE has been removed?

Maybe the seats got borrowed by these folks
