JQ 787 domestic business seats?

I'm one out of two flights at the moment:
1) JQ28 SYD-MEL (Nov 29) cancelled on Nov 28 (but got moved to a QFd flight)
2) JQ29 SYD-MEL (Dec 6) departed 2 hours late (but boarded on time so less F lounge time šŸ„²)

Am on JQ27 MEL-SYD tomorrow (assuming no cancellation).

Nice to be able to access both F lounges šŸ„‚
Booked in whY or Biz?

Good to see that you were at least bumped to QF (so could still access the Dom J lounge) and not the wilderness of T2.

JQ27 today delayed from 1205 to 1405 then cancelled at 1340. Solid 5 hours in the F lounge so not complaining

I have a couple of flights booked JQ MEL-OOL in July and August next year. Both booked on JQ49 departing from MEL international terminal so I could indulge in F lounge prior to departure. I haven't been advised by JQ, but I have picked up from my future booking list that both have been changed to a JQ domestic flight departing T4!! Not happy about that (JQ49 was scheduled to start with MEL-OOL and then fly onto South Korea - hence why it departed from MEL international)

I always get MAX bundle when flying JQ to get the double QF status credits (30 for MEL-OOL). If flying from MEL international terminal in order to get the F lounge experience, I'm prepared to forego the fact that these SCs do not contribute to the P1 2700 SC requirement on QF only flights. But rather than get bumped to a T4 departure I'd prefer to wait for a DSC offer from QF and get 15+15 - all of which count to the 2700 (which is a tougher ask than the 3600).

Is there a timetable anywhere that shows all JQ flights so you can ascertain which flights to target rather than stumbling across them?

Try this?

Is the website there up to date? (If not, blame Covid).

But I did go looking for that sort of thread and failed. Pretty sure thereā€™s some others but they might be obfuscated by references to QF F lounge accessā€¦.(and why wouldnā€™t you!).

I used ITA Matrix with JQ1-100 flights to see whatā€™s out there.

Found the post by @Mattg:

I presume its the usual 40 status credits each way if we take a Jetstar SYD-MEL route in J. Also free access to the QF business lounge...

Yes, if you pay extra for the MAX bundle for SCs and lounge access

WP/SG just need the whY fare to get into the F or J lounge but still need MAX bundle for SCs.

You need the Max bundle added the business class fare to earn points and SCs, although I donā€™t know which lounge it provides access to for those below Platinum.

Platinum or P1 can access the F lounge even if flying JQ economy with no bundle (based on FF tier access entitlements alone).

ITA Matrix for me also. Works well to identify when the flights are. At present appears to be ML-SY, SY-ML and ML-OOL.

Notice today's JQ17 SYD-MEL is now delayed by 90 minutes (possible cancellation coming?) and last week's showing as cancelled. Similar story for the recent JQ28's (the Tuesday SYD-MEL option).

So these flights are probably not a good idea unless you have fairly flexible plans for the afternoon in Melbourne.

What was the process to exit International after the cancellation and transfer over to a Domestic flight? Should be easier at MEL compared to SYD at least.

Have to head from the lounge to the gate and then the gate agent escorts you through to the arrivals area to clear immigration. Reasonably straightforward process.

You'd definitely want to allow some time to get from international to domestic in Sydney. Was pretty easy in Melbourne.

ā€¦ but how reliable are they actually operating that sector as JQi? Several reports pre-Covid of peeps booking these domestic sectors for lounge visits but getting bumped to purely domestic flights - which is a double PITA ex-SYDā€¦
Yep, flagged this in an earlier post - more based on recent JQ B787 challenges in general. Iā€™ve not had the chance to jump on one of these JQi Dom sectors but they were notorious for being cancelled or subbed to a narrow body pre-Covid. But still a nice cheeky option if it flies.

Yes, Iā€™d revise my earlier comment to a triple PITA if they cancelled on the day and youā€™re airside in SYDā€¦ Unless youā€™re already in the F lounge and can just get your money back! Meanwhile posting ā€œIā€™m in the loungeā€ until closing time šŸ˜
