I am in the same boat Pushka. Even though Virgin is happy to let me cancel my flights, thats my choice. Insurance obviosuly wont cover my other losses which is my prepaid onwards domestic flights. Got them all on a Garuda sale, not refundable.
I have already booked backup flights on SG with reward points, they are fully flexible so i can change at any time, so for now i am going to sit it out until the Kaboom. What i want is for Virgin to cancel the flights so i can pull the trigger on insurance so i am not out of pocket at all.
Mr Limewood needs the kaboom also and sooner the better IMO. But it all depends on the insurance policy terms. Mine says my flights need to be delayed 24 hours first
It sucks waiting though. If anyone wants certainty they need to suck it in now and take the losses. Its either that or take a chance spending half the holiday not going anywhere
