Reckon just under AU$1100 is fantastic for return trip in J MEL to BKK. Looked at October Tuesday flights - includes luggage. JoyV

Not bad, although for $1450 with SQ or Thai I think I would know which one to pick (Using miles purchase)

Just remember no QF FF points or SCs and no lounge access (unless you have it through Qantas) on these fares without a hefty Max upgrade cost.

What's J* Jclass like?
JQi J is equivalent to QF Y+.
Leather reclining seat, 38" pitch.
Row 1 is OK, but other rows can be a pain overnight.
No AVOD - iPad on lap.
With Max value pack includes QFF points, SC's & Lounge Access at the J earn rate.
For my itinerary the JQ J+Max sale cost is about the same as QF premium economy when that's on sale.
Could get interesting when the B787 Dreamliner arrives in November.

For those of us who do not collect FF points, AU$1100 for direct flight in business is less than Royal Brunei ( between $1850 and $2200) and not much dearer than Thai airways direct Y flight, $950, if you are lucky in Y, and about one quarter of cost of J in TG!
i reckon it is a good deal for people like me who just look for cheaper flights as cannot accrue lots of QF points. Sad that Scoot only flies out of Sydney and Air Asia is not direct. Also this price is prior to fuel charge increase. JoyV

Yes but it's nowhere near true Business. Really, Qantas Y+ is lots better!

Hmm. Used to be able to do it for that before LM increased costs of the copay but now and with the way the dollar is you would be looking at cheapest being about $1700 return on SQ or TG in business which is still a very good deal.

Just need to clarify - does that $1700 return on SQ or TG in business involve using points or do you have another cheap web site that I haven't found yet? JoyV

Yes it is closer to $1700 now of you have not got banked miles at the cheaper rate, but also offers plenty of flight time options.

I would personally rate QF's Y+ over JQi's "business class". I don't even look at JQ anymore unless it's a destination where they're the only choice.

Looks like it adds $850 in total bringing the whole thing to $1917. MEL-SIN will earn 240SCs

Considering PE ex SIN is $1000 return with QF and its the same seats in some cases....

Spot on Blu. Done a couple long haul in what JQ all J, not much room between seats and worse if seat in front is fully reclined, row 1 only way to go.

Still though CNS to Osaka not to shabby.

I agree so much!!!! Recently came back Singapore to Melbourne overnight in a middle seat(!!) with a woman fully reclined all night in front of me and a mother with babe behind - so I couldn't recline. The FAs don't really attend to the middle seat passengers and anyway they are frantically busy at the start and end of the flight. Arrived in Melbourne with a headache, a backache and nearly in tears

And to top it off, I didn't even get any points as it was not a Max fare.

To my mind, it is not similar to QF Y+

For the Cairns-Osaka flights once you add the Max bundle and return flights it turns out to be around $1470 rtn but I didn't bother to go through to the seat selection fees and credit card surcharge so may be a little more than that.
