I have travelled JQ Business a number of times and would rate the value for money highly - especially if you are not chasing status credits. Although even with Max Bundle it can still represents good value - depending on how you intend to use your status credits. The worst seat is the middle seat in centre row - so avoid that seat. The Cairns - Osaka Flight with JQ Business is a good flight - I have found service cheerful and friendly and plenty of drinks available on request.

Yes but it's nowhere near true Business. Really, Qantas Y+ is lots better!
You make your choice. You can go for price or you can go for service and amenity. The two often don't go together. But for the price Jetstar charge for its business class, it is a good value product for me. If you have the means to afford what you call 'true Business', the go for it, but don't turn your nose up at the offering from Jetstar that is clearly not aimed at you.

My comparison was intended to be between QF Y+ and JQi J.

Sometimes QF Y+ can be similarly priced or even cheaper than JQi J (eg SIN-SYD return on QF Y+ for $1,050 is cheaper than JQi even without the Max). And the QF Y+ product is superior IMO.

Did the Cairns - Osaka rtn flight on JQ J last year.
Seats were good (especially in row 1 - not too sure about the others as I heard some complaining noises from behind when I reclined to try to sleep during the night return flight). Food was ok, attendants - young, friendly and chatty.
Overall a reasonable experience.

That is the crux of it for overnight flights - for what JQ are asking for their Starclass seating - if you cant get row 1 garranteed there is no point paying for Starclass as you are paying at least twice the price as an Y seat where you will be reclined on anyway.
