Hoping someone out there might be able to assist.
We had a paid Mel-Sin flight booked on Jetstar in Business class in April 2018.
JQ are dropping this flight. We were offered a business class seat on the QF flight that same day for no extra charge.
Happy..
But they wont let us select our seats... JQ say they cant access the seat allocation, QF say I have to call Jetstar...
Jetstar say I can only do it on the day of departure...and recommend we get to the airport early. The whole point of a J ticket is to not have to arrive extra early., and I am worried we'll just be left with crumby seats and not together....surely there must be some way to sort out our seats now.
PNR doesn't work on the QF site, works on the JQ to retrieve booking, but no access to select seats.

So when are the JQ MEL-SIN flights being cancelled? I have a flight in J in late FEB and would be happy to change to a QF flight.

Too late to change to a cancelled flight?

From March 25, Jetstar is reducing from 5 to 2 flights per week

Has the changes been ticketed yet?
I have a new confirmation/eticket from Jetstar, they are giving it a JQ flight number, with the logo that stipulates "operated by Qantas".
I was told that the passenger manifest ? isn't sorted by Qantas until 24 hrs until the flight...this all just seems a bit haphazard. I was able to select 2 seats together, where I wanted on my original JQ flight...why shouldn't I be able to do the same on the flight I have been moved to.

Even being on a JQ codeshare, there will be a QF PNR for the underlying QF35 or QF37 flight. You will need the QF PNR in order to select seats via the QF website.

Without knowing exactly how any of this is done, I suspect that the people who actually paid for business on the QF flight will be first to get the seat choice. I presume that there's a fair bit of price difference.

Beyond that though, is the aircraft type confirmed?

Call Qantas and ask what your PNR is (supply them flight number, route, date and your names and they can look it up).

As posted by Himeno, it must exist and will be different to that of Jetstar.

In the same boat!
Rang QF Plat line and obtained my QF PNR. Was able to enter QFF number, email, phone in Manage My Bookings. However could not enter Advance Passenger Information nor select seats. Rang Plat line back and they could not select seats either. Agent had not seen anything like it before and has escalated the problem up the food chain. May take a week? to resolve. Will keep all posted.

At the end of the day, you've had a major upgrade in hard and soft product. Any seat on QF A330 or A380 is going to better than the Jetstar cradle seat. Although it's always preferable to allocate a seat, in this instance if I couldn't I wouldn't be that concerned, as I know wherever I am seated I should have a better experience than originally booked ...

It could simply be that with the reacommodations the cabin is full.

Maybe try the Sri Lankan trick ...

Not completely ... this is a simple daytime flight.

In many ways the JQ business seats are better suited for such a 7 hour trip.

SIN-MEL is a different story.

yeah, I spent another 30 mins on the phone to Qantas today, they put me through to Jetstar, who have almost chastised me for calling again !
I don't think we can do anything except get our seats on arrival at the airport on the departure date.

The bells and whistles of a better flight are great, but I want to be seated with my husband, so wanted to select seats now, not on the departure date when everyone else has already checked in online. It is a nice little upgrade, but we were happy with the Dreamliner business seats to Singapore and we had seats together on that..anyway hopefully cabin not full on the 380 and all will be fine !

agree.. had pretty good service on the JQ business flights on a 7 hr leg....the QF experience in J on same leg sometimes hasn't been that more special...not complaining still happy with the a380 and a full business product, just miffed I cant choose our seats... we have just as much right to select a seat as the people that paid for their QF tickets...it's not our fault we were moved to this flight...we still paid for our Jetstar business tickets..
