Is any one aware of the cost to upgrade on departure to JQ*class to Tokyo from Cairns and if points and SC's are awarded?

I asked at the CNS Int Airport yesterday and the JQ staff couldn't give a definitive answer but thought it was $250 pp and no points or credits.

I also asked that as I have paid extra for the exit row, does this come off the price, again with a not sure answer.

Any ideas?

Typically the price difference between StarClass and JetFlex on the route is the upgrade cost.

No refunds for exit rows or extras.

Points and SCs - not guaranteed, may happen depending on how they process the upgrade.

Last year, Septemberish I got a AUD100 upgrade to *class from super cheap Jetflex fare BKK - MEL. No points or SC. When queried, I was told that it was not an "authorised" transaction! JQ took and kept my $$$ but!

It is very well known that upgrades in the QFF program earn at the rate applicable to the original purchased fare class not the upgraded fare class. No different for starclass upgrades. But there are some reports that sometimes people have got the starclass points. But this is not guaranteed, just the luck of the draw.

It depends upon how the upgrade is processed.

FWIW, I don't believe such paid upgrades are addressed in the QFF T&C's - so it's basically a "coughshoot" what happens with points/SC earnings.

Agreed it isn't specifically covered and that explains the variable experiences with earning, but the principle is there.
