A passenger has pulled the lever of an emergency door and climbed onto the wing of a Jetstar aircraft just minutes after landing at Melbourne Airport on Thursday morning.

AFP have arrested a passenger on board Jetstar flight JQ507 from SYD after he opened the emergency exit door on arrival into Melbourne.

The emergency slide was deployed when the emergency exit was opened, but the man walked along the wing and slid down the engine to the ground where he was arrested.

He had stood up when the plane was taxiing and was told to sit down by cabin crew, which he did. But when the plane had stopped moving, "he charged towards the front of the plane to the emergency exit row in the middle, pushed past some people, and then he ripped off the emergency exit door", she said.

You could write a book on Jetstar DPS flights. Some of the stuff I’ve heard, I’m embarrassed to be an Aussie.

Although some euro flights in summer can be a bit wild, especially those full of the young single lads heading down south for a few days.

Overwing widow exit. Slides aren’t disarmed.

The slide can be disarmed but requires maintenance to do it.

Overwing exits on the A320 are always armed - so can be activated anytime. It's not something the crew arm/disarm like passenger doors.

Overwing on 737s don't have slides, so popping the window escape wouldn't have the same disruption to the aircraft.
