JQ will increase MEL-NRT from x4 weekly to x6 weekly and MEL-HNL from x3 weekly to x4 weekly from 14DEC, MEL-NRT must be doing quite well for them in order to increase services! Maybe MEL-KIX down the track too? Although would definitely like a full service alternative, konichiwa QF, JL, NH? ;) :D

JQ International network out of MEL:

MEL-NRT: x4 weekly (x6 weekly from 14DEC)
MEL-CNS-KIX: x2 weekly
MEL-HNL: x3 weekly (x4 weekly from 14DEC)
MEL-HKT: x3 weekly
MEL-BKK: x3 weekly
MEL-SIN: x5 weekly
MEL-DPS: x9 weekly
MEL-AKL: x9 weekly
MEL-CHC: x5 weekly
MEL-WLG: x4 weekly
MEL-ZQN: x3 weekly

JQ also offers same plane supplementary services to HNL, HKT, DPS on other days operating via another Australian destination, the flights are treated as an international flight and depart from the international terminal. JQ also typically adds extra services to SIN, HKT and DPS during peak periods.

They should hand over MEL-NRT to QF!

I definitely agree! I'm not sure why QF didn't route the other x3 weekly NRT services exMEL. Is JL still interested in serving another Australian destination? I heard they were looking at MEL but not sure if its still on the cards, MEL would definitely be the obvious choice now since QF decided to go north.

I flew SYD-NRT then trains to Kyoto instead of JQ to KIX then train to Kyoto. I have flown JQ to KIX before with train Kyoto and QF to NRT option was better by a mile. Or they can bring back JAL who flew SYD-KIX-BNE-SYD, it was great.
