Hi guys

My question relates to web checkin with Jetstar. Baggage drop opens 2 hours prior to departure, which means that if my flight is at 11AM then the earliest I can checkin on the digital screens/counter at airport is at 9AM.

I've just become a member of the Qantas Club. I'd love to use the lounge at 8AM. I believe that you need to show your boarding pass upon entering the lounge. Can I still obtain a boarding pass from web-checkin, and if so, then how far in advance can I use web-checkin?

I'd always thought it opened 24hrs prior to departure but I'm not 100%.

Also, thank you all for making me feel so welcome here on the forum :)

Don't need to show boarding pass, just evidence of an onwards flight (which could be in the form of an app or e-ticket).

I have done this a few times when check in isn't open for an international flight, so I will kill some time in the domestic lounge before it is, then get the boarding pass and pass and continue on

From Jetstar web site....quote, unquote
For domestic flights in Australia and New Zealand, if you’ve purchased a seat, online check in opens 28 days before your flight and closes one hour before your flight departs.

If you haven’t purchased a seat on a domestic flight in Australia or New Zealand, online check in opens two days before your flight and closes one hour before your flight departs.

If it helps I accidently checked in for the wrong flight the other day (JQ BNE-NTL, same flight number, 3 weeks apart). It was very embarrassing at the airport when I tried to drop a bag and they told me I wasn't checked in.

Just as well I was dropping a bag and didn't just turn up at the gate.

48 hours maybe but 28 days check in? That's massive overkill.

I had a good giggle at this ;) But it is useful info!

So far I've only flown to Bali and Bangkok with Jetstar, and on each occasion when I've tried on-line check in, I've gotten the message that on-line check in isn't available for that flight.

Does it actually exist?
Regards,
Renato

Funny story - I went to board this flight (the one I had checked in three weeks earlier). The boarding pass on my phone was definitely working, it even updated the boarding time when it was slightly delayed. However it failed to scan at the gate ("seat not recognised" error apparently). They printed out a new paper boarding pass and it worked.

Looks like checking in several weeks early is not a good idea if it causes these technical gremlins.
