Jetstar Super Special - Do You Know What It Is?

Got an email on Wednesday saying there will be a Jetstar super special soon - anyone got any clues what destinations might be involved? Price? Travel period? When the sale will start? Let us know!

Re: Jetstar Super Special - Do You Know What It Is?

It will be a sale where their servers will melt down and not be able to handle the requests. Your ability to actually get one of the sale fares will be determined by whether you

a) get any response from the server
b) get a response that says 'oops, we are incompetent at capcity planning for web hosting'
c) actually get a sensible response from the server

Re: Jetstar Super Special - Do You Know What It Is?

I think last May they ran a 2 for 1 specials to international destinations (I effectively picked up a flight to KIX for just over $500 return) - it may be a bit hopeful to think it'll be on again but here's to dreaming...;)

Re: Jetstar Super Special - Do You Know What It Is?

Would be nice if it was an Int sale!

Re: Jetstar Super Special - Do You Know What It Is?

I just hope somebody posts details here when it happens.
I usually get the promised email for these sales days after the sale has finished (if I receive the email at all).

My level of cynicism for Jetstar 'sales' is about the same as oz_mark's.

Re: Jetstar Super Special - Do You Know What It Is?

Jetstar usually have a sale in May to commiserate their birthday

LOL very true.

Seeing as JQ turn 5 this year, I'd guess something like 50,000 seats for $5 or something gimmicky like that.

As previously stated, it's more appropriate to guess it'd be something like '50,000 seats for $5 available for 5 seconds before our coughtastic servers give out again'

Travel periods will be exactly when you don't want to fly.

I'd wait to see if TT respond to any sale. When it comes to availability and websites handling capacity, they beat JQ all over the park.

Re: Jetstar Super Special - Do You Know What It Is?

on PPRUNE they said its going to be 40000 seats for $4, yes on the usual cough domestic routes, this said

To celebrate our 4rd birthday this month, and to thank you for being a loyal JetMail member, we're sharing a special offer with you today - 40,000 seats for only $4 on selected domestic routes, for 4 hours only!
Sale stars 8pm, Wednesday 30th may

*Jetsaver Light Fares

For travel between 14 October - 19 November 2008. (cough days, times prob)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Followed by the "big" public Jetstar Sale the next day. I see that Tiger's Current "Weekly" sale finished Wednesday night, so we will expect some crazy fares from them on Thursday. Probaly one of the biggest events for JQ

Will Try and "hack" or mainly figure out the Jetstar $4 search page URL (have last two previous times, hence getting 5,1 cent fares) When I do, will let you guys know as you can set up all the dates you want etc in the search engines, and bingo you go through fast and grab some of these fares.

Cant Wait for TT's fares (Bring on 9.95 fares please)

By the way, its Jetstar's 4th Bday, not 5th

Nor I, but I will be keeping an eye out for interesting international offers that may or may not happen!

Re: Jetstar Super Special - Do You Know What It Is?

Pretty long lead time from the sale to when you can fly as well.

"JetMail members will have exclusive access to the sale which starts at 8:00pm (AEST) tonight 29 April 2008, and ends at 10:00pm, unless the website crashes earlier".

Is about as much as most people will see when they visit jetstar tonight.

That and the standard error message.

Also, note this caveat this year. Ever since Tiger came to market, they've been charging an extra $10 for checked baggage, i.e. marketing the JetSaver lite prices only.
