Or start in AMS CDG? KLM/AF is a QF ff partner. Is a recent post of some one using QF ff points on AF/KLM flight to Asia.

Multi city can show up options that do not show in direct search.

heya yea looked at options out of paris / ams / helsink, they are all easy to get around / to asia, its that last jump into AUS which is proving difficult on Qantas points.

Japan seems like the only option but their J looks a bit claustraphobic, although have never taken it.

Every airline releases seats at different times, which is even worse in post covid world... If you wait til Asia to Australia options are open, you run the risk of their being less or no Europe to Asia options when you want them.

If you go the JAL route, I'd suggest the JAL product to Sydney is better than their product to Melbourne (if they are still flying regional J to Melbourne).

Personally, I'd snap up what I could find and then if something better pops up later, it's only 5,000pts change flights, and can weigh up the benefits of swapping products v the need to deal with the Qantas call centre. Each to their own though.

So in theory if i can get LHR - SIN booked, then when the next option i want pops up in 2 months from now I should be able to change final destination and just add in Sin to SYD (for eg) with the only drama being 5,000 points for change (and point cost of other flight / taxes). ?
