Just made Platinum again after a few years hiatus. How long to the new card arrives. First loung access in US and LHR woukd be handy ( all major bookings on AA awards so status not linked) Thanks

Interestingly I took the plunge and paid some points to maintain WP as I had an unexpected trip to the UK and still don't have a new card

As BC20 said, put your QFF number in your AA bookings. If you are trying to earn on a different FF program and have that in your booking ( and on your BPs) I don't think flashing a card would help you with lounge access.

Download the Qantas app and if will have your 'digital' plat card to show, if it's asked for.

Working every day for a month on a contract and moving house put this down the list of things to do but the contract is over and I've moved (just have to unpack) and then life will be sort of normal again (if normal is the right word for me)

You can have a FF# to an award booking absolutely. The status will show.

You shouldn't need the card and in fact many lounges now go off the BP (scanning etc) rather than a physical card. I think the last time I showed my card was at a QF dom lounge post flight to get arrivals access (as P1).. when flying partners the good ol' Emerald on the BP is all that is needed.

Depends if they send you a Qantas Cash enabled card or an older card without the chip/payment abilities.
If an older card, normally only sent out for emergency replacement, it can take 4-8 days.
The standard Qantas Cash cards take 3-5 weeks.

As said above, you absolutely can add a FF number to a reward booking (or it may require calling up). In terms of time to get the card I got my WP card I dropped status from P1 officially in the first week of June then it arrived about a week ago (relatively quick by the sounds of it)

I always have my number attached to bookings, so never need to use my card.

However, a few days ago when checking in at the Flagship checkin at MIA, the concierge at the roped-off entry needed to validate my entitlement to use that checkin so I used my card to show OW Emerald.

It’s a pain but I still carry the hard copy card in my wallet. I’d much rather use/prefer the card image on the iPhone app and it mostly works but the IT guy in me says one day they won’t/can’t confirm and I’ll need the card as backup :) Does being that risk averse rule me out from ever getting on Survivor?

When I first moved up to Gold (and later platinum on the same trip), I went to the AA club at ORD the day after my Gold earning flight posted, still having a Sliver/Ruby card. The lounge AAngel asked if I'd been "promoted".
