Just made Platinum again after a few years hiatus. How long to the new card arrives. First loung access in US and LHR woukd be handy ( all major bookings on AA awards so status not linked) Thanks

I always have my number attached to bookings, so never need to use my card.

However, a few days ago when checking in at the Flagship checkin at MIA, the concierge at the roped-off entry needed to validate my entitlement to use that checkin so I used my card to show OW Emerald.

I am with JohnM. In the past few years have done many hundreds of flights (maybe almost a thousand) with almost as many lounge entries. Literally living travelling. I have still not to this day EVER had to produce my physical FF card.

... yes, but do you still carry the card just in case? ;)

I do and I also take a paper copy of all my bookings.....

The only time in recent years I can remember needing my card, was the BA F lounge in JNB. We were travelling Qantas to Syd, but went to the BA lounge as it is so much nicer and they wanted our WP card and copied info off it.

I think the last time AA asked to see my FF card was around 2014 or 2015 at the LAX T4 lounge.. and then they puzzled a bit over the P1 card ("Never seen one like that before" which seems unusuAAl for LAX) but was no issue.

All the other times at lounges etc the big fat EMERALD on the BP has been fine.

(I can understand entry to MIA Flagship check in though since you don't yet have BP to show :) )
