Hey Guys, First Post...

I have just become a QFF (of course at Bronze level) and I want to know a few things:
  • How can I get more Status Credits to 'level up'
  • Get points (in general)
  • What are the Qantas Staff benfits (if any) in concen with QFF
(With the last question, I am looking at becoming a pilot in a few years)
If you can answer one or all of these questions I will be very happy :).

Thanks alot,
Damian.

Hi Damian Sharpe,

Welcome to AFF.

  • The only way to get your SC count higher is to fly more. There are a few threads about that talk about some of the better deals available.
  • To get points you either need to fly or spend money through a Credit Card. The issue is finding the best Credit Card for your situation. There are quite a few threads covering this also including a new thread on promotions that the banks are running.
  • There are many staff benefit but they can vary dramatically with employment and like many people the QF staff do not openly talk about the little extras they get. Having said that discount travel is one benefit but it also has some severe limitations associated with it. (No lounge access and standby tickets (called sub-load) only)

Hey, Thanks alot Ben.

That's a little bit of a let down with regards to no lounge access for Qantas Staff.
Would this limitation be while on shift, or also when on leisure flights that I would pay for?

Damian.

Hey,

Even if you are a member of the Qantas Club, and on a rebated ticket (staff travel) you still don't get access to the club. The only way to truly earn points and SC's is to pay for a commercial ticket. Qantas Club's don't offer a 'day-pass' kind of situation so unfortunately that isn't good for you.

Sorry to bring you bad news.

Thanks for answering.

One last thing,
once I go through uni and training, and become a staff member,
do I earn FF points? (On flights I an on shift for).

Also, if I bought a Club membership, would I then get access on my own paid flights?

Thanks a lot guys for helping me out :P

You're joking, right?

Read 737's post immediately above yours.

I guess it depends what your role at QF is? A friend of mine works for them, and both he and his wife are able to use the QP when flying, even on a discounted ticket.

Indeed. There is a FF card branded with 'Corporate Manager' or something similar; the colour of platinum IIRC with a OWE logo. It allows staff of a certain pay grade and above to use facilities without further having to prove bona fides.

You can see a picture of it on the ready reckoner used at the FL in MEL (unless it has been changed in the last few years).
