Just missed Gold

I have not heard it on the forum that someone gets close gets comped up.

Good luck tho and hope you are the exception.

I've heard it twice from reading this thread today.

I think he will get it, this is not the days of old people, Virgin is here and Qantas are fighting for every customer they can get.

As to the poster saying he/she has 'no sympathy' for the OP, I really don't believe he was asking for any.

I've also heard of people getting it by asking. I was in same situation a few yrs ago and now regret not asking. No harm.

Don't expect to get it, but worth a shot I say (if i was in your shoes, I'd probably try as well). I'm all for people like the OP calling up 'just to ask' - so long as they don't whinge if the airline chooses to reject the request, and nothing the OP has written suggests this. I just get irritated when people ring up to ask, are rejected and then complain about not having the goal posts moved specifically for them.

Good luck, and let us know how you go!

Mrs Kelvedon was 90 sc's short of Platinum and renewal on Dec 1st. Last year she was silver (which she had been for a number of years). Last week she rang up QFF and requested WP. Four hours later she got the call to say yes they would comp her, so it's well worth asking.

Her case may have been helped by LTS and J international flights booked for 2013.

Good news! Qantas listened to my case, and within an hour I was upgraded to gold. I think the fact that I already had the return flights booked and paid for helped the situation.

As many on here have indicated, they are looking for loyalty - which is what they will get from me. :)

Thanks to all of you who wished me well.

Asked and you received.

thankyou for the update. What has happened is exactly as I suspected. Good on you.

Sorry you have no sympathy from me.
Rules are rules, you know the way the system works otherwise you wouldnt have worked so hard to try and make it to gold. I've reached WP with both QF & VA, I personally fund my own travel. I was 20 SC's short of WP this year so I did a status run to make sure I kept my WP status.

Fly more with QF in the next 12months and then you might earn the right to be gold.

OP didn't ask for your sympathy.
