I often wonder why it does not happen that

1. Status on Partner Boarding Pass --

Have traveled a few times with VA partner on a VA marketed ticket and have been amazed to see why the VA status does not show up. Last was flying EY SIN - BNE and at the lounge I asked the lady if she would like to see the card as I handed her the boarding pass she said no need, we can see the status on the system.

2. Lounge access on SQ

Again, lounge access rules for SQ are strange, you can not access a lounge that SQ does not maintain. Now at some airports the lounge is a contract lounge and SQ pays the restaurant / lounge operator to open the lounge for SQ guests. Why cant the VA flyer tug along, I mean you would give the VA member flying Business access to this lounge, wont you >>

3. Partner Benefits

- Again flying EY SIN - BNE had to ask for Priority Arrival card, the lady in the plane said we only offer it to business class pax and EY gold. I said but VA Plat and Gold also get access, she said no, EY only. Now if SQ can give priority arrival card to VA Gold and WP, I am sure EY will as well :)

thats all for now :)

I think you have answered Question 1 in your question, Q2 is also easily answered in the form of costs, it cost more for SQ to use a third party lounge for its guests and probably exceeds what they charge VA, its not unusual as One World third party lounges can refuse access to OW elite who are not flying with the contracted airline. On your third note, it is interesting that EY dont give priority passes out, something worth looking at by Velocity. On the other hand, Velocity Plats at least get access to the nicer lounge in AUH, and not get reemed so to speak as EY Golds do.

thanks Markis10, but on #2, if the ticket is by SQ should the VA WP/SG not get the lounge access. it is just what quantifies as a benefit of being an alliance partner.

1. Status on Partner Boarding Pass

It depends on how the partner has their systems set up. For example, VA status shows up on DL reservations and boarding cards.

2. Lounge access on SQ

Very common, even in alliances. Contract lounges are often only available to J pax / the airlines' own frequent flyers. Frankly it's a bit of a luxury that EY are quite generous about allowing (and paying for?) VA guests in lounges that they use in ports without an actual EY lounge.

3. Partner Benefits

Express cards are not a listed benefit, per Platinum Membership | Velocity Frequent Flyer
