Looks like Qantas beat out SQ as the first quarantine-free flight to land in Perth. SQ215 ran slightly late but has also now just landed.

I wonder if both 00:05 scheduled arrivals had to clear immigration and customs ... Did everyone check the validity of their passport before departing Sydney? :p

Does ADL have a curfew? Get them part way there.
Yes, ADL does have a (larger plane arrival and departure) curfew.
I think airlines have to pay a hefty fee, if their larger planes get approval to land after 11pm, and before 6am.
Small planes, no problems.

I see Albo was on that flight! Keen to start campaigning!

I wonder if he was in Y ;)

Did QF get much PR on this at all? Usually these sort of things get a lot of publicity in a slow news week, which isn't exactly how I would describe this week ...

Bugger all.

I actually think it was done purely for operational / positioning flight purposes to get an A330 over to fly a revenue service today. The aircraft is currently flying back to MEL as QF774

Was all about the emotion of families being connected again etc, which was really nice.

But plane was what half empty from what I heard & no mention of points only tickets on the news wires that I came across.

From what I hear, they were pipped at the post by an SQ arrival just after midnight...
@Mattg post#22 above indicated that QF arrival was before SQ, who were running just a little later than planned.

Which would suggest QF was first non-quarantine arrival and SQ was first international non-quarantine arrival.

Must have been more than people on the flight. A parcel that had been sent to me in January, and last scanned in Sydney on Feb 2, popped up in Perth Airport yesterday morning....

Thanks for the update, I was on my way to golf early in the morning and heard it on the radio, no mention was made of it being the first international flight, QF wasn't mentioned in the news item so I took it at face value. I guess it proves the old adage of believing nothing that you hear, and only half of what you read.

Keep your eye on the birds. (And stuff the red-eye flights, flat bed or not. Daylight only for me.)

I had a SYD-PER J award booking in October on an A330 that an EF aircraft change alert this morning notified had been downgauged to a B737.

Quickly scoped EF and a 2h later flight was still showing as an A330 with 5 U.

On the phone to QF pronto. Wait time on the WP line advised by the robot as c. 30 mins. Accepted the call back option. Sure enough, c. 30 mins later the phone rings and an Aussie voice is at the other end. Woot-woot, sounds like HBA central. :D

Sean flicked me over no problem.

But I've still got EF bird change alerts on that - and several other trans-cons I have booked.

I reckon it will be shambolic for a while...

Shambolic continues.

My EF bird change alerts are going off daily so far this week.

On Monday, another A330 PER-MEL in September downgauged to a B738. School holiday time, so unlike previously, I was unable to flick award seats over to another A330 as U bucket was practically non-existent except for the redeye which I refuse to use.

One yesterday PER-SYD in October thankfully just turned out to be a change from an A333 to an A332. 🥵

Those folks in the back rooms at Mascot must be working their @rses off juggling these things. 😜
