Really ? Not to my knowledge Amex's travel insurance covers you however this may depend on what card you are on. Amex Business Platinum covers even when not purchased. Sorry ahead of time this may have already be answered.

Yeah. But I don't have a business card so maybe that's why it's different. I looked at the policy for Velocity Platinum and Platinum Edge, they are both the same.
 
Only need to charge $250 and hold a return ticket to get the travel insurance.

Recently booked a couple of VA points flights overseas and went though all my CC insurance policies to work out which card was being charged - ANZ Black was by far the absolute best.

Other than the usual it includes a defined policy on cash settlement of points flights if cancelled and will also cover quite a few pre existing medical conditions without referral.

Simple $250 activation is a cracker.
