What other 777 taxi/runway fires have there been? All I can think off is BA2276 at LAS.
4 777 hull losses, 1 due to fire (electrical fault), 1 missing, 1 engine failure on final approach and 1 shot down. 2 fires while taxiing/take off. The last was an engine failure.Depends on whether you include fires at the gate, when pax already boarded. If so, include Egypt Air flight MS667 from CAI to JED, where the coughpit of a 772 caught fire at the gate.

This one appears to have been engine failure as well. Looks to be less damage then BA2276.

HND airport being closed... Wonder if QF25/26 is operating today. Almost every domestic flight remaining for HND departure today is showing on the HND site as cancelled or "checkin stop" Most arrivals after 1250 are showing as diverted or cancelled.
International side is showing flights as TBA or check in. In bound long internationals after 1300 have gone to KIX or NRT.
This is KE2708 HND-GMP
5 actually you are missing landing short of the runway due to pilot error.
So this one (irrespective of hull loss or not) makes #3 incidents with fires on the ground at an airport with a full load of passengers on board.
It looks like they got flights moving again within 3 hours. Other then some inbound international diversions, the international side hasn't been impacted. Lots of domestic cancellations and delays with flights moving again by around 1600.HND has 4 runways, unfortunately KE2708 was on 34R which is the longest at 3400m
Perhaps some flights will still be able to operate from the shorter runways (wind, noise operational reasons might be issues as well)
What actually would have happened of there was a fire like this in the air? I'm guessing an alarm would go off (how do they detect a fire btw?), engine would be turned off, fuel stopped and the wind would extinguish any fire?
