Its been some years since I last flew Korean but it was a great experience. Crew very efficient and polite. Constantly walking around the cabin waiting for you to ask for some service etc.

Stop over at Seoul...

Had a little over 3 hours in the airport. Really brought home the reality of North Korea.

Looking out the terminal windows you could see the (estimated) 5m high barbed wire perimeter fence and the guard towers every hundred or so metres (relying on memory here).

Went to take a photo of the scene and all of a sudden there were 4 soldiers converging on my wife and I - with machine guns pointing at us. They did not point down until the camera was in the carry on bag. They also were polite but rather loud. Did not man handle or anything but we were strongly advised to go to transit lounge.

Sure was a great way to get over tiredness from the flight from Sydney.

Vista of area outside the fence heading up into the distance was of what looked like hundreds of crosses at the roof peaks of the different buildings.

Marked down as a place we might like to visit in the future but certainly not a place we'd want to live.

The constant threat of the North must be wearing for the locals and expats.

Their site says partners with EY (miles, no Tier Miles) EK (not sure if status earn) & AS (miles and status).
There is a degree of partnership with AA (but only to earn Korean Miles on AA DFW-ICN)

AS would be an interesting one to credit to.

I'd find a ScaryTeam programme offering lifetime status and credit towards that.

I would love to try that one day. If ATO points stop soon, we may be forced to start paying for J and this is one I would try. Better than paying $10K with other airlines
