Krisflyer or QFF for around Xmas award seats from SYD/MEL/BNE to HKG/SIN ?

Greetings all AFFers,

I know I am going to get about 30,000-60,000 pts, now have to decide either to Krisflyer or to QFF.

QFF is what I always have, I know for Xmas flights (i.e. from 15-23 Dec), SYD=>HKG (1 way) would require 30,000-36,000 pts under classic economy awards and have to book in about 11 mths in advance.

Now Krisflyer is new to me, they only require 27,500 pts from SYD=>HKG, however what is their (one way saver economy) availability like for Xmas periods (20-23dec) ?

I’ve found SQ to have good availability all year including Dec/Jan, much better than QF. Naturally you have to book early for xmas dates although I booked my xmas saver flights in May this year and seats were still available then.

Krisflyer also gives you a 15% points discount by booking online so you only need 23,375 points. Their taxes are a little higher than QF though.
