Singapore Transit

We arrived into SIN at 0445 and our next flight was due to depart at 0025 the following morning so we headed into Singapore on the MRT to do a little shopping. Singapore was typically hot and humid, and we were a little tired, so instead of spending the rest of the day in the city we decided to head back to the airport.

First, we visited Jewel:










Then it was back to the SilverKris lounge for a shower and aperitivo before our flight.

SQ237 SIN - MEL

Another on-time departure and we are on our way.

This time I ordered the Thermidor from the book the cook menu. I also had it on our flight to Paris back in June and I acknowledge that I've had better. In fact, I remember that the one I had on the Paris flight was nicer than this one but I still enjoyed it. I don't get the opportunity to eat lobster often so it is a bit of a novelty for me...

The drinks menu was much the same as the previous flight from IST...

Arrival into MEL is a bit of a zoo. First, we park at a remote stand and have to use the stairs with our carry-on bags, then the bus to the terminal where we join the long queue for the smart gates. Eventually we clear immigration and make our way to the baggage carousel. After getting our bags we join the queue snaking its way all around the customs area where customs agents are shouting at people to do this or that.

About an hour and a half after landing we finally make it landside and I'm wondering if Morocco or Australia is the real third world country. God knows what international visitors make of their first impression of Australia.

So we walk next door to the QF terminal and join the business check-in queue where there are two agents looking after business class. One is dealing with a family group of about 10 while the other is trying to sort out a couple who have an issue with their ticket. We are going nowhere fast. We finally make it to the lounge more than two hours after landing. Thank goodness I allowed plenty of time.

QF1298 MEL - CFS

Our first flight on an A220 and after reading about the number of cancellations and subs I'm wondering if we will get away on time. I didn't need to worry as all was well: we left on time and arrived into CFS a little early after a very pleasant flight.

I forgot to mention that I was surprised to see the load on QF1298. J was full and from where I was sitting there didn't appear to be many vacant seats in Y.

Hopefully this continues as this flight is quite convenient for me.
