Lamest Status run ever ?

Suddenly I feel a lot less lame for my MEL-BNE-DRW-MEL I did a few weeks ago to get me to SG in time for my Euro Vacation. :)

Ahh yes, the QF flight where you dont get any food ;)
I used to do a lot of work at Nambour and would fly MEL-xBNE-MCY¹ with the BNE-MCY on a SH6 - a 25 minute review of Bribie Island with no catering (maybe a lolly). Once they subbed a DH8, that was 15 minute trip - another time they subbed a 'Fairline' - that took a bit longer.

Years ago when I lived in Sydney I first made gold with a status run to Canberra and back. Before I even knew it was called a status run. The lame part was that for work about two weeks later I had to make a last minute trip to Canberra anyway so didn't even need the status run.

Did a SYD-OOL-SYD run a few weeks ago to qualify for DJ Gold for the 1st time ...finished an overnight shift @ 7am , was on a 9am SYD-OOL , then turned around on a 12 noon - OOL-SYD , landed 1.30pm , home at 2pm . S*** , Showered & Shaved and back at work for 5pm . Most boring trip every , managed to snooze both ways... but am now DJ Gold ....mission accomplished. The things we do for status !

A lame SC run is:

1. Where you sacrifice a good night's sleep in your own bed
2. Where you sacrifice a good home cooked meal for lounge food and nasty Buy on board onboard catering
3. Where you sacrifice a good night out in town with your mates for an airport waiting to board the cheapest Saturday evening flight.
4. Where you sacrifice a good chunk of time everyday to peruse the internet, emails and this forum looking for the best fares, FF offers and SC run options
5. Where you sacrifice a good week's worth of wages for a few air joyrides where the final dest. is your home airport

and is it all worth it in the end? ---- enough said:lol:

That's a question that can only be answered by each individual. ;)

Turns out I've converted an awards flight to Sin to a buy and got a business trip in so will end the year at this stage with 755 SC, wahoo.

Sitting in the Mel J lounge as part of my lame SC run. Mel-Adl-Mel-Adl-Mel is today's effort. Only one of those is in J though as a JASA, the rest in Y (at least in 4A and 2 x 14A). Organised this one very late based on an existing booking and then trying to sqeeze in some extra flights. But then a double SC promotion will cause one to visit Adl (or rather, the Adl QP) twice in one day... Did see Kerry-Ann Kennerly (sp?) in the J lounge just now with some music type people. They were talking a lot about AGT (which I have now worked out means Australia's Got Talent, a show I have not watched).
Today should nett 160SCs though

Very good post, I nominate my HKG-SIN-HKG run this year as the most painful status run :)

1. UA Y On A CO Micronesia 737 (Poor FAs in Polyester Uniforms!)
2. Arrive SIN at 1am
3. Wander SIN for 4 Hours prior to return flight
4. Interrogated by Customs as to why I was turning around and returning immediately
5. Trying to sleep through the return sector but the being unable to due to the foul odours from the Y breakfast

Painful in the least but got me Star Gold for the next 3 years :)

Try MEL-BNE-MEL. I don't think they serve alcohol at breakfast in the J lounge? Anyway should be a relaxing day with the telephone off and some reading to do. For WP first time.

You'll probably have to work for those SCs due to QFF having an automatic block on more than one of the same city pair segment posting on the same day.

Yes I will, no I won't. Business flights get booked and cancelled. Final word is that I have enough private confirmed flights to get to 705 SC by August. Now I bet a heap of business flights will appear out of nowhere.

As per you prediction serfty I had to contact QFF to claim the other two flights. It was all done on the phone and should post in a couple of days.
