Hi all and happy Easter. Hope you all had a great and relaxing weekend.

I am looking at booking a one way flight from Rio (GIG) to Santiago Chile (SCL) in September 2012 however when I attempt to make a booking via the LAN website, Zuji, Orbitz, Expedia etc etc etc, the fare which shows as available is only in Premium Economy and is around US$450 / A$480.

However, if I do a return flight from SCL to GIG, the return sector (which is the only sector I actually want to travel) has economy class seats available and the return flight is only US$620.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Some airlines choose to charge a premium for one way fares, restricting the sale of lower fare classes for one way bookings, so a TA or booking site won't be able to get a better offer.

Try a LANpass if you are doing a bit of flying one way flying. (Or something like that can't remember)

In my scenario, the return fare was cheaper than a one way fare ... and call center agent told me to just book a return and dump the remainder, which many people do .. which I was a bit hesitant about based on what I read on some sites saying airlines aren't happy with that, but nothing happened.

Thanks Loobloke. Have booked the flight with LAN.com (Australian site) and will end my South American adventure with a Premium Economy flight from Rio to Santiago instead. Looking forward to the SC's.
