Large release of Qantas Business & Economy reward seats to London & Rome [Oct '23]

Stacks of SYD-SCL available and still plenty of SYD/MEL-DFW as early as March which was not there previosly.
Yep, as above - booked QF27/28. Definitely weren’t there a week or so ago.

Note it not just those routes, they also dumped a bunch of DFW and LAX J seats today.

Of course Im about 20k points short to book what I need, if this could have just help off another couple of weeks wouldnt have been a problem.

I was in the same position - had to "borrow" 25K points of my Mum (who never flies) to snag a LAX-SYD-OOL trip in J in July.

Seats definitely weren't there a few days ago.

Unfortunately Dad's balance was short of what I needed to borrow.

But stole idea from dairyfloss and grabbed SYD-HNL in J return for June just now :)

Definitely need to churn a card soon to get points up again.

Buy points that come with free wine…😁. Well, that’s what I do for PC.

That may happen too.

Anyway apart from wanting to go somewhere easter long weekend (likely domestic cash fare) , I cant really squeeze any more trips in before end of July. This redemption will see me more than requalify for WP. So think i will just wait for the March DSC before booking anything else.

For future reference it sometimes requires some creativity, so you could try using multi-city for MEL-SYD + SYD-LHR. Or just grab a flight from Sydney or Perth where there are direct flights (as the email said this was best availability); and then do a separate positioning booking to get to the starting city.
Multi-city did not work for adding domestic sectors to the SYD and PER availability to LHR.

So yep, we will have separate connections.

booked 2x business Sydney to vancouver for Aug24. Have never seen economy let alone business availability on this route.

I have also seen business availability on Sydney-AKL-JFK in August/September 2024 for anyone still looking. Never seen any seats on this route since it came into inception. Plenty also from Sydney-dallas and melbourne-dallas.

So funny thing happend when I booked. I couldn't get any SYD to FCO (QF6) or return flights., but I could get a FCO to PER and PER to SYD - all on QF6, so booked them as two seperate tickets. Question now is , will Qantas marry the two segments, so that it is one ticket?

Last night I was busy searching for options for 2 J seats to USA ex BNE, searching lots of options using AAdvanatage miles (mostly via NAN). Also looking using QFF points of which there was basically no options. Then all of a sudden QFF was reporting QF15/16 daily availability for 2 x J awards. Snapped up the direct flights to/from LAX for the 2024 holiday. Might end up putting some AA miles to work for getting to destinations beyond LAX. And it was just coincidence timing for me as I had not seen this post until after seeing the availability pop up.

Unless you are platinum and can get through to Hobart, the multi city tool actively blocks domestic connections. Simply not possible to book them even if they show, returning an ‘error’ which o/s call centres can’t fix (they will tell you the availability is not real, or qantas doesn’t fly between SYD and MEL on any day of the week after 8am, or the seats are only available for new bookings).

Domestic connectors can usually only be booked if they show at the outset, as a pairing.

No. You can’t combine separate tickets or PNRs.

They can ‘link’ them. And through check bags. But can’t combine the ticket. Not much chance of missing the connection though, so you should be fine :)

IME as a Platinum, Hobart has acknowledged the problem, but was unable to work around the married segment logic. I’ve always had to book separate awards and “link“ them on separate tickets.

This has been going on for years now. I fully expect that this is a very deliberate and measured ploy to drive additional revenue and profits. But Qantas and their loyal drone supporters will claim that this is an unfortunate and longstanding unresolved technical issue. The solution? A once off smattering of awards that mostly get snapped up in a couple of hours by very few people - that’ll fix the problem.

Oh! I had read that hobart had been able to work around the issue.

The problem wasn’t around ore-covid, I first came across it for my booking in early 2022. Back in 2019-20 it was possible t9 multi city. Yes, it’s a revenue control.

Multi city didn’t work for me either for Mel-Syd then Syd-Lhr, so I just booked Syd-Lhr online and then called Qantas, who added the Mel-Syd connection. New ticket arrived straight away.
Hobart, or regular overseas? If they can now add it that’s a major change (improvement!)

I can't remember if I saw this offer through the email or media however I jumped straight on my lap top (hadn't planned any holidays for next year, at this point) was able to secure 2 x J Classic PER - FCO mid July and 2 x J Classic LHR - PER Mid August as a lowly Silver.

SUPER HAPPY!! Never thought I'd get to use my points on the direct Perth flights. Nice one QF!
