A bit off topic but have people received last months status credits for shopping at Coles? They have usually arrived by now, nothing for me.

Wouldn't be surprised if flybuys disappear altogether :(

I think flybuys is half owned by Coles and half owned by Westfarmers. Yes the points are a liability - but the big data it provides is a gold mine. I think that a far more likely outcome is that transfers to Velocity will stop.

Surely demand is sky high at the moment - you can't walk through a coles without noticing how high the demand has been for goods - so surely they're good on that front for now - before the affects of a recession/depression are more keenly felt?

They have stopped offering any promotions for Coles, Liquorland, First Choice etc. Used to getbe multiple offers a week, now nothing for the last 6 weeks. Also they are ending their ebay partnership as of this month.

How it works is every time flybuys offers bonus points promotion for a particular store, that store would reimburse FlyBuys some allotment of $$$ for the total points that was given away in a given promotion/offer. My guess is that these stores are not wanting toto cough up the $$$ anymore and that is why the offers have disappeared. So flybuys is left with no earn and the billions of flybuys points in circulation represent a debt. There is only so long they will be prepared to continue in a situation like that.

Yeah that's the problem. Demand is so high that flybuys is rendered irrelevant. The 1 point per dollar people earn on grocery spend is about 0.1% of the equation. It's all the promotions and offers they would run that really drives the ship.

This was true for me as well but I recently got a number of decent offers, some on items I regularly buy as well. Also got a triple points bonus on largest Coles shop and 500 points bonus for $30 spent at Liquorland. If I had to guess I'd say Flybuys are probably doing quite well at the moment, maybe better than usual. Heard that the spending has been the equivalent of 3 christmases all at once? Either way I wouldn't be surprised if the link between Flybuys and Velocity is severed. It'd be a shame as thats the best way to get value out of the points and I've currently got ~$1800 worth of flybuys points. I'll probably use them directly through Flybuys travel assuming they also don't go under..

It wouldn't surprise me if promos have stopped because they don't want people unnecessarily heading out to the supermarket right now to grab that promo purchase.

That's good to hear that someone is getting offers. My partner and I plus both our families haven't got anything since beginning of March. Hope they stick around for a long time to come :)

True. But I'm talking more about the 2,000 points for a $70 spend type offer. Or the 10,000 points for 5 weeks shopping deals.

Yes, I was including those types in my assumption. I haven't received a 4 week offer in a while either.

Considering that the big supermarkets have come out and stated that the demand is much greater than the Christmas demand, there isn’t any need for the targeted 4 week promotions as people don’t need the encouragement to spend (remember other than the big data, these programs are to modify spender behaviour). The data is way too valuable for the program to end.

As for your comment regarding the offers, Flybuys, Target and coles sent our offers yesterday (I.e triple points for coles, and a targeted spend offer for the other two).

Kind of my point though, don't know who is going to continue swiping their flybuys card for a lousy one point per $ spend. You have to spend $2000 to get $10 that way. No one in my family is using their card unless they have an offer to do so. Certainly doesn't speak for all customers but I'm sure we are not the only savvy shoppers in Australia.

I understand that demand is already high for groceries right now, that was my point that it lessens flybuys role/impact in the market.

I also can't help feel like the fact they are ending their partnership with ebay and now failing to process the monthly virgin SC is somehow related to the recent changes to the landscape.

Not sure this makes any sense, as written. You got an offer for target and Coles, so what was the third flybuys offer related to?

Liquorland I suspect. I also got the Target one but forgot to mention it. Don't often spend there though I am considering grabbing an xbox seeing as I'll be out of work for the next 2 months at least.

Just to clarify, these are distinct and totally unrelated matters, and have nothing to do with the current environment. We regret that members won't be earning points from eBay going forward, but we look forward to introducing great new partners to the program. In the case of status credits, we are following this up with Velocity. Although these are extraordinary times, we continue to make offers to members from Coles and other partners, we have the full backing of Coles and Wesfarmers, and fully intend to remain Australia's most popular loyalty program.

Typo - it should read liquorland

You are reading into the delay in posting way too much, as you can see by the thread it has occurred previously. Velocity can hardly afford to lose a partner at this time (I.e purchased points = income).

As for your comment on who is going to swipe, your assumption is that everyone is equally engaged in the program and activates all the offers etc. In reality that isn’t the case. No different to how QFF has 10m members and not all of them are equally active within the program.
