And who knows how many cycles were left on it before it needed maintenance. Maybe just enough for a couple of flights a day for a few weeks, which might be only days under normal ops.
 
QF will have a contract with Rio to fly set number of services / seats, other seats sold as RPT.
Can confirm this is the case.

RTIO have both private charters with QF and VARA, as well as an arrangement with QF for seats on commercial services ex PBO.
 
VH-YQW is on its way to Canberra today and last ever flight will be tomorrow where she heads to BNE to replace one of Clive palmers mad dogs at Aviation Australia, a good ending, although I would have preferred HARS where she might still fly. I am lucky to have flown two HARS aircraft, VH-OJA and the former VH-PAB (VH-DHM under HARS ownership).

There is a parachuting school in the US that occasionally takes a load up in its DC9 for a jump DB cooper style, without the robbery or 727.
