LATAM Circus - how to book seats?

To start I had to purchase one way LATAM fares via Amex Travel due to them not taking Aussie credit cards. I also gave up on a 1 hr hold to Qantas to book it. From SSA to AKL.

How on earth does one purchase seats on LATAM? My credit card wont recognise on their website, then I tried their app and I must enter a Brazillian CPF number ?! Assuming with a brazillian credit card too.

Does anyone know any workarounds?

Thank you

Who’s code are you flying on? Qantas or LATAM? I assume LATAM aircraft (each sells their own seats on the other's flights across the Pacific)

Yes, it's all LA.

I was a bit confused when you said you were on hold with Qantas to book. Not being tricky, but QF and LA have a complicated seat-swap arrangement (ie there are seats exclusively to be sold by QF on board the Transpac LA flights, and I think vice-versa) and you have to know whose seat you have actually bought.

Resolved by calling the LA contact centre - thick accent made it difficult. But they accepted the CC and even gave the option of paying in USD or AUD.

Might be useful for others in the future. Make sure to have the seat map ready for selection, and know the phonetic alphabet.
