Have RR resolved the Trent1000 issues?

I believe they know what the issue is and have a fix but not sure all the engines have been fixed. Effectively they couldn’t increase production sufficiently to provide for both new builds and subsequentl replacement engines. They must be getting
Closer to catching up.

So it must be new engine builds which are allowing ETOPS > 300minutes? For LATAM to be running this route?

What is/are the 787 diversion airport(s) when it’s in the deep latitudes?

I would a bit anxious flying on one Trent 1000 5.5 hour to the nearest suitable divert airport.

This flight is being retimed from the beginning of April. New schedule:

LA805 SCL 00:55 - MEL 05:40 +1
LA804 MEL 13:45 - SCL 13:00

oh! that's much better timing for the LA804, gives plenty of options for me on to LIM. Get into LIM early evening instead of the middle of the night.

Thanks @Mattg

I'd been hoping to find 2x award seats in Y on LA805 (SCL-MEL) in Dec 2019 as the last leg of a OneWorld Award ticket, but up until now the QF multi-city tool hasn't been showing any award availability on the LATAM flights between SCL>SYD/MEL during December. As such I had booked on QF28 (SCL-SYD) and then QF SYD-MEL. From what I've been reading here it sounds like the QF flight might be a nicer/safer option (especially in Y), but not having a stopover would be nice on the balance of things.

I checked again today and noticed that a few award seats are opening up on LA801/LA805, but there's some strange behaviour in the QF tool that won't allow me to have the LA805 SCL-MEL direct flight on its own. For example, when I search SCL-SYD on 9/12/2019, I get the following results showing Y award availability on LA801 (SCL-SYD) and LA805 (SCL-MEL but of course with a MEL-SYD leg to finish it up as per the search):

However, when I search SCL-MEL on the same date, LA805 doesn't show any award availability in Y. Instead, I can only choose LA801 (SCL-AKL) and then a QF/JQ leg on to MEL, or LA801 all the way to SYD and then a SYD-MEL leg to finish:

1) Anyone know why the tool won't let me have LA805 (SCL-MEL) on its own?
2) If I call the QF service centre, are they likely to be able to see anything different to what I'm seeing in the tool?
3) For a booking in Y, would you recommend going SCL-SYD-MEL (QF) or SCL-MEL (LA)?

This is a known issue with these (and other trans-Pacific) LATAM flights. The availability is not really there, but sometimes it shows up on the Qantas website as a connection if searching for flights to/from somewhere other than Melbourne.

The Qantas call centre cannot see the availability as it is phantom and does not exist.

Personally I would choose QF if booking Y as the seats are wider and it's a day flight, rather than overnight for SCL-MEL. But the charges on LA will be lower and it is a direct flight, so obviously a quicker travel time. Neither is a particularly bad option.

Interesting, thanks for clarifying that. Guess I'll stick with the QF booking.

According to routesonline LATAM SCL-MEL service will reduce from 5 to 3 weekly from 9 AUG (flying ex SCL WED, FRI, SAT and ex MEL THU, SAT, SUN), and downgauge on 02 OCT from 789 to 788. Also the northern winter timetable is showing original schedule with evening departure from MEL and early afternoon from SCL.
