How do you get the best out of these points? I don't ever get notified when there's point breaks options but NZ doesn't seem to be on the list and.... well are there any nice places on that list?

Apart from point break lists are there any other good value points?

I just bought some points @ the 100% bonus for an upcoming trip. Bought 100K points instead of paying 950USD for a stay at IC for a holiday next year.

How far better off do you feel you are ?

Just asking, as I think the net benefit of acquiring points AT THE 100% BONUS .... still only gives a net benefit of around 10-15%.

Thus, I'm thinking out of a regular cost of $US950. you may only be ahead by about $50.

I feel about 350USD ahead out of a 950USD booking.
Booking for two nights in chicago was ~950 including taxes. At 50k per night I bought 100k for ~600.

I admit the math is muddy because I actually bought 90k points because I had 10k left over. Furthermore I booked two nights in washington at 55k a night for like ~850 including taxes, not as good value, but that was earned (free)points.
I also realise usually it's cheaper to book direct than buy points, however certain US and UK hotels are stupid expensive. (New York, London, San Fran, Washington, Chicago)
