Latest information about 28 degrees card

Having dumped my 28 Degrees card back when they changed to fee structure and not receiving an offer for fee waiver as some had received, I was surprised to receive a new(targeted) offer via email today. Looks like they have now realised that last year's changes lost them a lot of customers.

It reads:

and further explains up to 3 years of fee waiver (third year depends on second year spend).

Its tempting for 2 years of fee free card with no international transaction fees, which is why I originally held the card for many years.

mentioned on OzBargain a few days ago where a few got the same offer......not very well received.....but if it serves a purpose for you (travel) then that's a good thing. While I still have 28D i spend just as much on debit cards these days

I also saw this offer earlier in the week. Whilst it seems enticing there are better ways to earn on your OS spend, namely US cards. Not a quick and easy solution but if you are willing to put in the time and effort the rewards can be lucrative.

I am not willing to put in the time/effort to go down the US card track. I do not have sufficient overseas travel or international spend to warrant that. I am more concerned at saving around 3% on the international spend I do make. And I do have a no-fee card, but it is a debit card and not a credit card, so I have to transfer funds to the card before making a purchase. Its been working ok for me since I dropped 28 Degress card, but a combination of a debit and a credit card with no fees is attractive.

But come year 3 I will likely be dropping it again because I very much doubt I will make the $12,000 spend in year 2.

I now the providers has no loyalty to me, and my only reason for considering the card is for my own personal benefits, so the guise of loyalty is artificial in both directions.

Hmm, I still have the card and paying the monthly fee.
I wonder if it is worth contacting them?
I dropped it when they announced the annual fee was coming in and signed up for the CBA Smart Awards card since I'm still working. I only need to spend $2000 a month for the monthly fee to be waived.

I didn't get the offer but my sister in law did. Even if they did offer me this, they can shove it....I have found other better oprions for Fx spend....when I rang to ask if they would grant this near 20 year customer, a waiver of the fee for 12 months like they had to some customers, they told me to cancel the card if I didnt like the fee. So I cancelled the card....

I have Bankwest - and other family have bendigo so options everywhere
I have Bankwest credit and debit cards. I don't use them very much now, as many of the sites I use (eg Cathay Pacific) they block. So what's the point?

I now use Wise debit cards.

I used to get blocked a lot when using my BW World MC...but now i get sms authorisation codes sent ( including whilst OS) to complete the transaction so no issues unless I misplace the phone ;)

Just made two international purchased today (about AUD50 in total), and just transferred the AUD into my NAB fee-free debit card and paid using PayPal. So still not sure if its worth going through the re-application process for my fairly small usage. Certainly there is no consideration from my perspective regarding loyalty - I am only concerned with what might be best for me.
