Hi

Just wanted to alert you all to latest promo email I received today from HH. Not a bad deal for me since I've got bookings in August in US for 3 weeks, all booked with eligible hotels taking part of the promo.

"Get to your next getaway three times faster with the Hilton HHonors™ Triple Your Trip promotion. Sign up and stay Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights to earn Triple HHonors Points from July 1 through September 30, 2012. And earn Double HHonors Points on Monday through Thursday at participating hotels and resorts"

There is also a handy FAQ section link regarding the promo within the link provided below.

I still routinely run this on points and fixed miles for my stays.

With this promotion as a Diamond, with points and fixed miles, you're getting 35 HH points per US$1 on Fri-Sun, and 25 HH points per US$1 on Mon-Thu, plus your usual airline miles. If you go with "Points and points", then it's 40 HH points per US$1 spent. For me, it's probably worth staying with the points, or if you're having a long stay, considering moving over to "Points and Variable Miles" if you're spending up big per stay.

Hi

Being a newby to the HH program (upgraded to Gold HH by being a Velocity Gold member) , I thought that the HH "Points and Variable Miles" option was only available for participating airline partners, of which Qantas is not a participant as per the HH particpating airlines link on the HH website.

I'm staying 12 nights @ $288.00 USD a night (& covering 2 weekends) at Doubletree Times Square in August and I'm trying to work out which is the best points earning option for me. I would prefer to earn points and then transfer them over to my QFF account if that is possible rather than acruing points for a 'free' stays at Hilton, if the HH conversion rate to QFF is acceptable.

Any ideas would be appreciated,

EDIT: I just found on the HH website that 10,000 HH points = 1,000 Qantas miles and a HH points earning estimation calculator. It appears that Points + Points will earn me around 54,000 HH points whereas "Points + Fixed miles" will earn me 39,000 HH points. This estimation is without the bonus promo points taken into account.

Good stuff. I have 7 nights (4 of them "weekend") at the Hilton Frankfurt next month. Booked via 3rd party however they have willingly associated my Gold hhonors status/number with them, so I have signed up just in case I get points too. :)

OK. I haven't spent much time thinking about it and my stays are weekday stays only and cheap.

I think I got it wrong earlier. If normal stays accrue 10 HHonors per $1 and the "points and Points" option is an extra 5 Hhonors per $1 then it seems best to keep the 1000 VS miles earned per stay as that would give me 3,000 VS miles for 3 separate nights and ~AUD420 spend or an extra ~3,500 Hhonrs points using "point and points" option.

Sheesh, I'm getting confused. Did you work this out? I've got 14 nights at 3 different properties - that's 3 "stays" yes? = 3000 Velocity points plus HHonors points. I can't see on the HH website that points can be redeemed to Velocity - only Qantas. So assuming I stay on "points & miles", I can redeem the "points" to QFF and the miles go to VFF or swap to "points & points" and redeem all to Qantas??

I still haven't found the answer to my question regarding redemption to Velocity points, unless VA falls under "Conversion rates for all other partners" - refer below.
